I apologise for acting like such a tool earlier in this thread (including the world's lamest comeback directed at Maroubra Eel; trust me, the embarrassment of having that 'comeback' attached to me is almost punishment enough). I way over-reacted. Love, peace, etc. I am sorry. I did not have sexual intercourse etc.

/off topic apologetic mini-rant

Back on topic - I can see why people are concerned that it's too early, but I honestly believe that Kearney is our man. And given that talks of extensions have popped up this early (regardless of whether they extend his deal or not), it must point to something - a few big signings, perhaps. Or perhaps signing Nolan (widely applauded as a fine move for the club) was one of Kearney's suggestions, and it demonstrated his plans for the future are just what we need to thrive.

I'm not sure why there has been talk of extending his deal, but assuming it is true, I would think the natural conclusion is that Kearney has big plans ahead for our club.

No need to apologise Eelementary. I was just trying to stir you up. I had forgotten about it and just went back through all the posts to find it.
Anyway I should apologise to you. I was mucking around, I'm warped as you know.

You didn't say anything offensive at all - I just got a little worked up over nothing and over-reacted. Truth is, you're a funny bugger!

So you finally looked in the mirror! Thank the communists under your bed for that.
Now we might get some normality around here again.
By the way, did it crack?

Suity, suggest we replace the weekly Lemon Head award with the new Weekly Dick Head Award.
What do you think?

But who gives a shit if he has big plans for the club? I have no doubt he does but then I'm sure every coach that ever coaches has the same. Like any coach, he should be given a full three years to prove himself but at the same time he shouldn't be judged favourably until then either.

I don't necessarily disagree. But surely there must be something he has done which we as supporters cannot see as we don't necessarily have access to that has made the board sit up and take notice (assuming the talk that they are wanting to extend his deal is true). I, personally, like what Kearney has done thus far (except for a few glitches, such as his strange use of the bench), but his on-field results don't speak too loudly about him (though IMO the guys give 100% every week, but are sometimes just plain outclassed) - so it is natural for people to be sceptical.

But if he were to show the board what he is planning ahead (alongside some sort of proof), or had he already achieved something the board was looking for (signing big name players, for instance, or overhauling our junior development system), it would paint this rumour in a new light. As it stands, though, we are not privy to what goes on behind the scenes and we are left thinking it's a strange decision.

Going ahead with an overall 6 year contract is a big move that's unless they have a few superstars tied up or will be tied up on the condition he is coach for the duration of their 3 or 4 or 5 year contract. Obviously, having all the junior side of things in place helps too but you would think that Nolan, (maybe Arthur's) & others are more hands-on involved than SK could. The coup of signing Nolan could be another impetus for the board to sign SK for that long. Are Nolan & SK reasonably long-term buddies? Extending his contract based on an impressive looking junior development business plan regardless whether it has yet to be successfully implemented or not, should still not be the reason why the board extends his NRL coaching contract. Great to have a fantastic junior system put in place but if he does not get quality end of season results with first grade next year his NRL coaching employment needs to be assessed. Either he gets demoted to look after junior development and we bring in another coach or show him the door or we give him another shot with 2013 and if top squad don't perform in the finals or even make the finals, he should be removed as our NRL coach.

I agree, for the most part - which is why I find the talk of his deal being extended at this tender stage strange, unless he has pulled some behind-the-scenes strings that will leave everyone gobsmacked.

The world's f**ked anyway mate.

People's desire to live too long and consume too much will see to that. Especially when the solution is to have less kids rather than die when you're supposed to.

Who's going to pay for all these old people to sit around eating all the food and using up all the energy and sitting on all the good real estate?

And we've got the nerve to complain when the government raises the retirement age. If we worked until we're dead everybody would be a lot better off. Including my kids and your grandkids.

Boy Pou, I feel sorry for you. You obviously don't like your fellow man to much. You probably agree with the globalist and think that the majority of us are simply "the useless food eaters" that need to be "controlled".

Well you need to stop getting all your opinions from the tele, radio and papers and actually read a history book or two. It may surprise you that man is incredible and has the ability, intellect and imagination to do the most amazing things. If we ever wake up and free our selves, we have no limits.

By the way the world has enough resources to feed and power over 30 billion people with today's technology. There is no scarcity as the media keep trying to scare us into believing. One example of this is in Russia's oil fields at the moment where even the media has finally acknowledged that they have oil reservse that are far greater then all the oil of Saudi Arabia. Also did you know that just a few weeks ago, the US congress passed a resolution to move three of the largest oil drilling rigs on the planet to 8 miles off the shore of Alaska to open up the oil reserves there. This oil deposit is equal if not larger then the Russian ones.

By the way the drilling of the Alaskan oil contravenes the US agreement made with the OPEC countries back in the early 70's, which was part of the petro dollar agreement, thus part of the reason for the lack of attention to this move. Russia is now supplying China with all it's oil needs and accepting rubles for it, and the US is about to bring down all of the middle east, which will stop the flow of from there, which is why the US, is making its move. It could never rely on Russia for its power needs.

As for carbon pollution, wake up, plants love the stuff. That is not the problem, I mean look at who wrote the legislative regulations for the carbon tax. Companies like GE and the world's largest power/oil companies. They love the idea of carbon trading, they will make a mint from it and at the same time wipe out the weaker and smaller competition. This would ultimately only lead to a massive world tax on the population for breathing and the money is earmarked to go straight to global oragnizations like the UN, IMF & World Bank. What these organizations would do with these billions/trillions of dollars is another story, but what it will initially guarantees them is autonomy from nations and having to ask for money from nations that are unwilling to fund their agendas.

But hey, I read books, I read their own green & white papers, I read there own biographies where they talk about bringing in a new world order, a one world government controlled and run by banks that will supersede all sovereignties, so I'm the crazy one. You know everything and know exactly what is happening Pou cos you saw it on the 6 O'clock news. Thus it is understandable why you would hate us old lazy good for nothing, greedy food eaters. We are just taking up natures clean space. The world needs a global tax to save its self, who would of thunk it? Quick everyone empty your pockets, and then shoot yourselves, we need to save the planet. It is the least we can do.

This is where the rumour of SBW & Cameron Smith comes in. It seems SBW is a hot rumour while Cameron could be bullshit and if so who is this second player?
I've heard a few times from law land that they have stitched up two classy players.
Can't wait for the announcement. Just who are they??? Am intrigued.

SBW and/or Smith would be huge coups. I suppose the likelihood of them joining is slim - but it certainly paints Kearney's possible extension in a different light. The more I think about it, the more I think you might be right, Casper.

As much as they would be great signings. I cant see sonny bill leaving to take less money in league & i cant see smith leaving the storm while under contract & especially since what bellamy has said about smith the last couple of weeks.

Even though we have a team of superstars it still doesnt mean success on the field. 6 year contract for a potential great coach is ludacris no matter how great the team he is coaching
