Game breaker.
Last year was Rodgers' first ever season in charge. He was trying to start implementing his new philosophy, his stature in the dressing room, and his say on the team. It was a year totally in transition, where again, people expected us to be finishing around 6th-7th. And again, hindsight is being used to say he should have finished higher, but hindsight makes everyone correct. Also, Pardew had the players at his disposal to at least get them in Europa League. But there's a big gap between Europa League and Champions league qualification. But Rodgers in his first year had to compete with a rising Spurs driven by Bale, a very solid Everton team greatly coached by Moyes, Arsenal, Utd, Chelsea and City, and yet, you're saying he shouldn't have finished 7th? Fine, let's say he finished 6th at the expense of Everton. 6th to first is still absolutely massive.

Yes stadium aside, Arsenal are renowned for being tight, because they don't spend much in the transfer market, despite sitting on pots of gold.

What do you mean by act like Jews?

The yids went out this season and splurged 100 million on shit.

Arsenal generally don't spend much in the transfer market. and seemed more concerned at the moment about making as much profit as possible than winning silverware (that is a big consensus in their fan base). The Jew reference is just playing on the stereotype of Jews being tight and greedy with money.

But we're all the way on post #205 :(

If you did, the kudos to you. But you certainly are in small minority. Rodgers has defied the vast majority of expectations, including mine. All of us were still nervous about a top 4 finish in February.

You mention Souths and harping on about past successes yet you're going on about a coach whose last trophy was in 2005.

BULLSHIT. Nobody gave us a chance to even make the top 4.

Stop making excuses for the Goners'/Wenger's abject failure.

Excuses already from the Goners fans.

Rodgers > Wenger
Martinez > Wenger

Please refer to the second page of the Premier league thread i gave them the biggest of chances.

And on a shoestring budget between 2006 and 2011, Wenger got this team into the top 4 every year, is his time past, most likely, all great coaches have to come to an end one day, but to say Rodgers is better than Wenger is just ludicrous.

The worst he has finished is 4th.

I actually thought they were a massive chance, No europe to worry about, a squad pf classy players, I still Coutinho has been your best Signing since Suarez, a rejuvinated Stevie G, along with Suarez, Sturridge with Gems in Sterling and Sakho. The team was always going too go close, still burning Arsenal didn't sign Sakho.

It's also why i think Man Utd will be Either 1st or 2nd next season.

I honestly think it will go

1. Man utd
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Man City
5. Tottenham
6. Arsenal

I agree with you, and out of the top 3 Liverpool are my least despised team, and I think Rodgers is a great manager

But a manager with no trophies and one good season does make him better than Wenger, which is basically what you're defending

If they were to both to quit their jobs now and go on the open market, clubs across Europe would be more interested in signing Wenger over Rodgers.

No, you can't dismiss the stadium for our lack of transfer activity over the past decade, it is the main reason for the lack of activity.

I never said he was better than Wenger at all; you're confusing me with Big Sam.

I said Rodgers is a genius. Genius he is.

Our time has come. This weekend a new Arsenal era starts. An era of winning things instead of not winning things.

We've won 5 of our last 6 FA cup finals. Our DNA is in this trophy.

If we do come away with it the confidence and winning mentality that gives us will set the perfect platform for an assault on the league title next year.
