Kokoda was OK for a first time up attempt. But the funds were lacking to show the REAL battle that those guys were meandering around to ally lines. Now that deserved some footage.

Get down to your local video store and ask if they have an aussie movie called Stir starring Bryan Brown. I haven't seen it for about 10 years, Foxtel play it sometimes on the classic movie channels, looks like it's been released on DVD somewhere though, hopefully in Australia.

Stone is a great flick, we used to have it on betamax back in the day.

Hugh Keays-Byrne, a great actor, played Toad in Stone and the Toecutter in Mad Max, excellent villain.

just wish we had the funds that made the movies that counted and told our true story at the same time. shame really that we haven't.

The Proposition would be my favourite aussie film. It also rates as my favourite western ever, beating the yanks at their own game.

Got a few that haven't been mentioned.

Midnite Spares (1983)

Fast Talking (1984)

and Greenkeeping (1992). That ones a bit harder to find but is well worth tracking down.
