Of the ones's listed Superman.

The Greatest superhero is Deadpool. No competition really.

Couldn't be bother checking if it's been done, it probably has, I don't care it's always a fun discussion.
Mate you should've left this open. I wanted to choose 3 - Spiderman, Wolverine and Batman. Because I couldn't, I went with Spidy!

Do we count Watchmen, V For Vendetta, Swamp Thing and Sandman under DC? If so, DC easily destroys Marvel.

No way Marvel all the way. So many memorable characters and besides Batman's, most of DC's villains suck. They can't hold a candle next to the likes of Magneto, Sinister, Dr. Doom, Galactus, Kang the Conqueror, Ultron, Carnage, Red Skull, Loki, Mephisto, Dormammu, Thanos, the Sentinels, Hydra, AIM, etc etc etc

If you count Vertigo stories under DC then DC easily wins.

What Marvel stories live up to Watchmen or Sandman? Or even The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke or Year One?

I can name one awesome Batman villain for all you have named there. Then there's still Lex Luthor, Brainiac, General Zod, Doomsday, Sinestro, Ozymandias, Deathstroke, Darkseid, Vandal Savage and Lucifer.

Scott Summers. Guy has the balls and the will to get the job done and restored their numbers, but what have the mutants repaid him with saving their entire race? Alligning with the steroid muncher Cap. A and The Avengers and making him a fugitive.

I'm not big on these things in general, but one thing you learn in life is that you have to decide your own ethics, rather than having them fed to you. Harvey eventually understood that, as so few characters (& real people) manage to.

I liked that about him.

Marvel Hercules.
He's immeasurably strong, he's practically indestructible, he's truly immortal (so he'll never get old and die) Would no doubt be a ladies man too.

Superman. He's an icon and a moral guide for some. Easily the biggest and most recognisable hero ever.

The real world's reaction to his existence would be extremely interesting.

Batman, and DC is better than Marvel.

Although, I have never liked Superman or any of the movies.

What's everybody's favourite female superheroes?

I think Catwoman is great, especially the way she is in the Arkham series. Badass, awesome and (some will disagree understandably) the way she flaunts her sexuality is great. Very character defining.

Not my favourite though. Hard to pick. I like Power Girl, Storm, Phoenix (not Jean though) and the X Men cartoon Rogue.
