very very disappointing to lose who i think is the most creative and natural ballplayer in the club but if that's the way it has to be....

i thought there was way too much weight put into the re-signing of mortimer. as i've said before, decent young player but if his name was daniel smith most people wouldn't have been so over the top with the attention they gave.

i don't want to see inu go either but if the cap doesn't fit it's a shame. he pretty much lost his spot to reddy who held onto it tight.

He'd really want to drop his anchors in Sydney for us to get him because Eddie Jones is keen for him to go to Suntory. Apparently he tried to get him to cross to the darkside when he was coaching the Reds. No NRL side could compete with the cash he can earn up there.

I know people say he's old and injury prone, but damn he'd look good in the Blue and Gold. Tough, great work rate and aggressive - what's not to love?

IMO Cooper Cronk would be more valuable to us then Smith.

I think that Ando is not concerned about Inu potentially leaving perhaps because he sees Ken Sio as a perfect replacement. Not to mention Etu and Jono. And Tim Mortimer. Mark Hendy would be handy, too.

What is the rule? Are we still allowed to make a last ditch offer before June 1st, or if they were to sign elsewhere today is that it?

I was under the impression that, because they are currently contracted to us, we have the right to not ratify their contract elsewhere until June 1st, meaning, in theory, we could make a very late bid for them to prove their worth before we make an offer.

Is that right or wrong?

Mateo can go. We've all been waiting far to long for him to perform to a consistantly high standard.
On the other hand, I've said it before and will say it again. I'd keep Inu ahead of Reddy anyday, even if he cost us a bit more. I know Reddy still has a year to run, but still............
I don't see Reddy as any better than our other back up - Jono Wright.

We actually could come close to that.

But 400k is a top 10 players salary.

Don't get me wrong, I really like what Mateo brings to the footy field - but he's not a top 10 player in the NRL. Anymore than $250-280k is massive overs for him. And the Warriors NEED to pay over to bring talent in - so good luck to them.

Hopefully he'll enjoy his time there, but wow - $400k.....
