UPDATE: NSW Origin winger Blake Ferguson has been questioned by police after a female accused the star of inappropriately touching her at a Cronulla bar last night.

Ferguson was drinking with former Raiders teammate Josh Dugan at 2230 Restaurant and Bar in Cronulla Mall when the alleged incident occurred around 10:30pm.

According to a witness who spoke to The Daily Telegraph on the condition of anonymity, Ferguson was substantially intoxicated while Dugan was relatively well behaved in comparison.

At one point, Ferguson was refused re-entry to the premises by security, who were acting on the advice of local police.

But according to the witness, Ferguson re-entered through a rear door that opened into the kitchen.

It's understood he pushed past a chef, before returning to the main bar area. Staff believe he was familiar with the bar, having visited several times while playing for Cronulla.

It was upon Ferguson's return that the alleged incident took place, with a female taking exception to his behaviour and slapping him across the face.

Ferguson left the bar at that point, while the woman and her boyfriend made an immediate complaint to police.

It's believed she told police that Ferguson touched her inappropriately.

FROM BOOZE TO BLUES FOR DOOGS

Officers ordered CCTV footage last night and also interviewed Ferguson at Miranda police station.

He was released early this morning. No charges have been laid as yet, with police continuing to review the CCTV footage and appeal to witnesses for further evidence.

Both players were at the Blues camp in Sydney this morning and were taken up in a lift with a team official for a meeting with coach Laurie Daley.

Daley later emerged to speak to the media and confirm the investigation.

"We have been made aware of an allegation and have been in contact with the NRL's integrity unit,'' Daley said, reading from a prepared statement.

"We will continue to cooperate with the police investigation.

"Josh Dugan was with Blake at the time, but there has been no allegations made against [Dugan] and we will update you as the matter continues.''

RAIDERS MAKE IT 10 STRAIGHT AT HOME WITH WIN OVER PANTHERS
Canberra continue to prove they have what it takes to finish in the top eight, disposing of Penrith 24-12.
The Blues also released a statement, saying: "NSW team management has been made aware of an alleged incident involving Blake Ferguson last night prior to his arrival in the NSW Origin camp today.

"NSW team management is treating the matter seriously and will continue to work with the NRL Integrity Unit, the Raiders and the police to determine exactly what has happened."

NSW police revealed they have already studied CCTV footage from the club.

"Police from Miranda Local Area Command are investigating an alleged incident at a licensed premises in Cronulla that occurred about 10.30pm last night,'' a NSW police spokesman said.

"Police have reviewed CCTV from the location and have interviewed a number of people.

"However, investigations into the matter are continuing."

2230 Restaurant and Bar licensee Scott Matteson confirmed both Ferguson and Dugan were at the venue.

"We got a request later in the night from police for some footage in relation to an alleged assault, which was provided to police,'' Matteson said.

Matteson said he was unaware what the allegation involved but added there were about 70 people in the bar at the time.

"I was there. I wasn't in the vicinity of it but I was at the bar,'' he said.

Ferguson has had a string of disciplinary problems this year.

He was suspended earlier this season, fined $10,000 and ordered to undergo counselling after a drinking session with Dugan.

Are we getting the NRL lifelines ready, or which other clubs are sending out the staff to find how many lifelines are left in their lockers.

once an asshat

Be interesting what Canberra do. He is on a final warning.

You would think he is finished in League. My expectation, Raiders cut him. Dave Smith refuses to allow him to register with another club. If police conviction no visa for France or England. Welcome to Japanese Yawnion.

As for Dugan. I know I would prefer Flash or Beau at FB at the Sharkies

How long does Daley have before pulling Fergo out even if not charged? Police under no obligation to charge Fergo quickly to suit Blues. How long does it take to review CCTV? If charged will he play? Innocent till guilty agenda. If not charged surely will play. God I prefer the old days. Had it's flaws but you knew where you stood. Personally, if I was a selector Fergo and Dugan would not be in the squad. Good to see that champ Watmough being asked his opinion.

Canberra won't do anything... they've lost too many..

Sooner or later they'll turn around and give the finger to the NRL.

This will be their opportunity.

Hope not. NRL may step in anyway and take it out of their hands. Canberra still going ok without Dugan. They will survive without Fathead. I wish them well. The problem is nothing is done to back teams up. Dugan free to play against Raiders. If Fergo sacked surely Raiders will push for his deregistration. NRL will deregister him to avoid looking toothless. I am not PC and we all know Fergo is not a murderer. But I am anti morons ruining the games image. Fergo is a moron. I want as many kids playing the game as possible. It is hard enough maintaining junior numbers let alone increase them when possibly 2 Origin players stood down and your local club under a drugs cloud (which we clearly are)

This was the incident

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/05/21/1085120123265.html

Sydney Roosters full-back Anthony Minichiello last night became the second player to be sacked from the New South Wales State of Origin side over a lewd phone call to a woman.

Minichiello was stood down from Wednesday's opening origin match following a further investigation into the incident, which had already claimed St George Illawarra centre Mark Gasnier.

NSW Rugby League officials, who met with a group of players including Minichiello for almost six hours yesterday, said the Blues winger's dismissal was on the basis that he disobeyed instructions for all players to leave their mobile phones at their team hotel before embarking on a bonding session last Tuesday night.

Minichiello was also seen in the presence of Gasnier as phone calls were made - one of which resulted in a complaint from the 27-year-old woman after she recognised his number.

Blues teammates Willie Mason, Trent Waterhouse, Craig Wing, Craig Gower and Mark O'Meley were each fined $3000 for unprofessional behaviour in leaving the team hotel after the side returned en masse from a drinking session at 3am. Mason and Waterhouse were also docked an additional $2000 for their actions, which ended with the pair and Gasnier travelling on a public bus from the inner Sydney suburb of Leichhardt to Central Station about 7.30am.

Mason was fined a further $1000 for signing Craig Fitzgibbon's name during an autograph session at a series sponsor's outlet on Thursday night.

I reckon they'll sack him for sure. Both Furners wont tollerate the "alleged incident" for a second. He's gonski and the Mucus wont heistate. No one is above the club down this way.

What's that a drunk guy grabs a woman inappropriately at a bar.

Bet that doesn't happen much.
