FFBRL End of Season Rerating and Drafts

Use stats to give an rating and then do voting based on them. They can go up r down based on how they play. Some forwards get lots of m but never are a threat while others might be less but it always takes more people and more energy to stop them when they run.

So say a bunch of props get 8s in attack. We then use the panel to look at them and can assign them one up or down based on other things. But the stats put them into a field for ratings.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully this rerate will also make 8s, 9s, and 10s a bit more valuable. Seems like 8/7 is the standard statline at the moment.

I agree. We have guys with barely a season of NRL in line with regular international players.

Just a wee bit off the topic of conversation for a moment
This rerate system, would this also remove players who are no longer playing? The player pool is cluttered with non-active players. I did try at one stage to compile a list of non current players but my PC kept crashing. Happy to give it another go if required?

Could work. Would we need to go through and give every player an X-Factor rating?

Probably not, your meat & potato's players will be stats driven, more the players that are middle of the road stats wise, but can turn a game on its head with a big hit or a decisive attacking play. Cartwright, Tapau etal.

Yep, although a list would need to be compiled to make it happen. MrC has sent me a list of 30-40 or so names, but I'd say thgere are more in there.

With seven rounds remaining, we really need to make a decision re: what stats to apply to what position.

If not, MrC and I will go ahead and make the call and everybody will just have to live with it

G’day guys,

Apologies if this is somewhere!

Going into next season with contracts, salary caps etc has there been a decision?

What will the salary cap be?

How many players can we take into next season from our respective rosters?

Cheers
Noel

That's all up in the air right now.

I'd hoped MrC and I would be able to work out a stats based rating system, but he's quite busy with real life at the moment and hasn't submitted orders in a while - so it's unclear what we'll do.

In the past we've done voting based rerates, but the last time we tried that here nobody actually bothered to vote and hence we're stuck with stats a year out of date.

Until we know stats for players, we can't decide stuff like salary cap and contracts.

You do? That would be really useful.

ESL players will be a bit more difficult, but I'd hate to have an over-long off-season because we're waiting for stats to be compiled and decided upon.

Yeah mate, just let me know how you want to analyze it and I will do it for you. At the moment, I'm working on positions.

We'd discussed deciding on stats that would be most relevant to each position - tries & line breaks for backs, try assists and line break assists for halves, metres and offloads for forwards etc.

Defence is a pretty easy one since we can just do tackles minus missed tackles.

Any thoughts?

The stats I have are:
TRIES
GOALS
MISSED GOALS
FIELD GOALS
RUNS
METRES GAINED
OFFLOADS
TACKLE BREAKS
LINE BREAKS
LINE BREAK ASSISTS
TRY ASSISTS
KICKS IN PLAY
TACKLES
MISSED TACKLES
INEFFECTIVE TACKLES
PENALTIES CONCEDED
ERRORS
40/20'S

So if you can discuss and sort out an agreed formula for each position [I have emailed you an updated position list for NRL players for 2016] and I can work out a formula.

When I write the Team of the Week article for Zero Tackle [can I say that here?] I use a efficiency rating per position.

I'll have to give it a good think and see what I can come up with.

I think those stats ought to cover it.

Now it's just a matter of working out a formula that assigns a value from 1-10 in each primary stat based on that.

Can use penalties conceded to decide temp, goal kicking sorts itself, and kicks in play, field goals, and 40/20s to decide field kicking.

Defense is simply a matter of tackles minus ineffective/missed, and attack will vary based on position.

It will hopefully mean an end to every player being an 8/7. Should see more backs with lower defended, a greater range of stats, and still make good players special.

So it'll be like 45+ tackles = 10, 40+ = 9, 35 = 8, 30 = 7, or whatever yeah?

We'd need to find the average i'd think, then go from there.
