I'm now in the process of working out what stats will equate to what rating.

Defense is easy enough, although if I apply it as a blanket - we get forwards with 7-10 ratings and halves/wingers with 2's and 3's.

Attack is going to be a whole lot less fun, as there are multiple stats to take into account for each position

Anybody feel up to compiling ESL stats?

What I did was rank the players in positions. According to my stats Darious Boyd was the best defensive FB last season.

Sounds drastic. What effect would that have on the sim?

A new meta would be fun.

Only one way to find out!

We once lowered the average from 7/7 to 5/5 and saw scores drop a little, but when we inherited the sim back in 2001, there were players who were 3/7 or 8/4, so I think it could handle it.

Cap? Spots?

Looking at down a reserve grade type thing where we can affectively sign say 3 players to 2nd tier contracts who can play in our squad but can be immediately picked up by another coach provided its a top tier contract?

Also, from our 2015 squad, is there a maximum number we can re-sign? to ensure a player turnover, or is it more cap based, so if you'd be under (probably me as I signed heaps of young players) then you can keep your squad together?

I'm assuming we get first dibs on our players from the season just gone, right? or we thinking of a complete clean slate (how do we decide who gets who in that instance?)

All of the above will be finalized just as soon as we've worked out ratings. I just wish we had somebody with a head for numbers and the patience to work out formulae to calculate ratings rather than me having to manually go through and do it myself :lol:

Weren't you just going to go through and rate them individually based on their ratings?

I'm talking about a way we could automate it so that it wasn't a case of manually going through.

I just got your email and like the looks of it. Is that all of the stats you're taking into account for each of the different player ratings? I mean, 40/20s are not relevant to attack or defense, so I assume that's included to help decide kick rating?

I'm hoping I can make a dent in this this week so that we can have ratings out and finalize squads for the retention/draft.

I proposed a system a while back that nobody suggested an alternative to, so we'll probably run with it as described below:

We'd likely go down the draft route, in which case we won't be having contract extensions costing more salary cap.

Just an update: Goldy is going to be going over things early next week and we should hopefully have a consensus by mid December.

No worries. I start nightshift on Tuesday night so I will get what I think each player should be rated at and get it through to Mis [and any other who wants to chime in] and they can analyze it from there.
