I wouldn't run him against sides with great line speed at hooker like the Melbournes and the Titans personally as he would really get found out at this stage IMO and still think it would be a positive to drop him to State Cup and play him for 60 - 80 minutes just to keep his fitness up

Thats it mate, plenty of time, no need to rush him.
Ppl get caught up in a few good runs....bits n peices at the moment

Quote me here now, Andrew Fifita is the real deal and will play for Australia within the next 3-4 years. He was the best player in the Toyota Cup last season and is already starting to show glimpses of what he can do in first grade. He`s got it all, size, speed, aggression, toughness, agility and skill, i`m more than happy with Galloway and Gibbs, but this kid is potentially at another level.
He wouldn`t have played three first grade games in a row if he was turning up late or missing training or having attitude problems, that`s for sure and certain.

Well if he has attitude problems, then I would like to see how good be would be when he gets his head together!!! IN all seriousness looks a likely type, no fear. I expect him to do a few daft things being quite raw, but if he keeps up his controlled aggression and the threat of an offload he would be in my 17 every week.

I think he is special too.

He just has a variety to his game, running angles, abit of step, the fend, a little offload, speed for a big maaarn, agressive both in A and D, full of enthusiasm, high workrate. All this... for a young guy ??? Wow !! If he puts his head down and improves his game he will represent for sure. They say front rowers peak in their late 20's....geezus...Sky is the limit.

I hope his brother is just a late bloomer.

He'll definately be a handful once he gets some fitness into him, I hope the media stay away from him too.

Great game by the kid today could have had a treble.....interesting to hear on grandstand Sheens refused t o give him to much of a wrap- wich is a lot different than the usual he is the next ...Laurie Daley (dwyer) most talented I have ever coached (Lui).......etc etc... obviously trying to keep him grounded.

He also said he was dropped 4 weeks ago for being overweight......that clears up why he was out.......

Will be our best interchange player for a long time....

Today was the making of him. He`s always had the ability, but today he proved to himself that he is too big, too fast and too strong for good quality first grade packs to handle, not just Toyota Cup sides.

In the past he has been criticised, justifiably, for his lack of fitness but it has improved markedly in recent weeks. Today, as a result of Gibbs' injury, he played more game time than usual and I thought that he got through a lot of work.

His charges were impressive, but what impressed me the most was his defense, made a couple of last ditch tackles on their fast small men, no mean feat for a big man.

Agree 100% - just made a similar comment in another thread. His class and ability with the ball is there for all to see but to get consistent game-time he needed to improve his defence. Hopefully he keeps working hard and improving, could be anything with the right attitude.

His father was one of my favourite players in the 70s.
I used to count the number of times he passed the ball and the number of times he dropped it.
Passes = 0 per year
Dropped balls = lost count after round one.

I think you will find it was his uncle, not his father (John Fifita)

He looks much fitter than he was at the start of the season and it is showing.

Still has plenty of work to do, but he is progressing VERY nicely. Love watching him play, no fear.
