What a juggling act. If we could keep any of those young guys I'd be hoping for Brown and Holmes.

If we were the rorters or the donkeys, I'm betting we could keep all of them.

It gets a bit tiresome constantly criticising others clubs for their cap management. We chose to recruit the likes of Lewis and Gordon on big money despite them being not young. We constantly bag the Rorters cos they are better at it than us. Scheck,Cordner,Tupou,Friend,Guerra,Napa,Moa all cheap.

Storm hit heavily for cap breaches. Lost Inglis yet still going ok.

It's hard for us to manage our cap with a unresolved future. Fifita can be sure if he leaves it will be to a club with genuine premiership chance. Now are speculating if we can keep juniors like Brown and Holmes. They could have been locked up for years already. That's what the Rorters do. They have belief in their recruitment. We don't. Unless we pay big on proven players like Lewis and Gordon. Also we probably pay overs to attract players to our little club.

I think if there is 1 good thing we are good at, it's recruitment. I doubt we have the advantage of 3rd party deals like some of the big clubs.

We have got a quality squad but we need to move guys on once they pass the early 30s or fail to perform. For instance, I'd like this to be the last year of Morris & DeGois & that money to go towards keeping the young guys.

FFS we are a premiership threat and that's why our cap is under duress. Our squad is markedly better than many teams and as good as, if not better than the real contenders. We have 3 current internationals who are the best in their positions; and at the top of their game in FIFITA Louie and gal. Then we have Carney, Gordon and Graham who are genuine origin quality players, and they are also playing well. Throw in some very reliable and capable first graders in Ryan/Gibbs/Taga/Robson/Ayshford. We should be aiming for a premiership. The window is NOW. Yes we are short on a gun 9 and a freak outside back, but no team is complete and let's remember we are not carrying any complete hacks.

The window is NOW.

Christmas 2012 I was asked was 2013 our year, after signing the likes of Lewis, Gordon & Ryan.

Much to the surprise of my mate, I told him 2014 would be our year.

No-one could foresee the ASADA crap but I stand by that comment, if we play to our ability & improve on last year, we can make the top 4 & beyond.

I agree Newman, some flair in the 9 is missing..., I'm hoping Lichaa can fill that void. As for the backs, I think we have strengthened that area slightly, so it should serve us reasonably well.

2 years ago if I was asked the one bloke I would love to see in BWB - Luke Lewis, hands down.

Throw in Thurston, Slater or inglis - I loved this guy. Gave the ultimate 100% in every jersey and won Penrith matches on his own.

Gordon. Was a winger pushed to fullback out of sheer necessity a few seasons back at pennies due to injuries and made every one sit up and take notice. Constantly ran in 50 metre tries. Played SOO on the back of this scintillating form.

Carney - Player of the Year at Rorts.

We have a tremendous roster. Looks like a Porsche. Runs like a Datsun.

Carney is busted too much. Continual inside balls or the classic over the touch line cutout pass.

Poor Lewie is just frustrated. Tries too hard. Doesn't know is he's a ball runner, link man or hit it up specilaist.

Gordon - just keep running it back into traffic MG. Tackle 1, play the ball.

It doesn't matter - sign internationals.
Sign up and commers.

You put an amateur in charge of the stable it will be the same old same old.

Hard to argue with any of that.

All good points. Is it that simple that there's something so wrong with our clubs culture, that they expect to lose every year?

Can it be more than just the coach - more that it's in the genes?

I agree with everyone about the team. You can't be stacked in every position (unless you were the Broncos before the plane went down).

Frenzy.

I will if we lose Brown. Holmes is homesick anyway and may end up back in FNQ playing with the Cows, or so I have heard.

Lichaa, I wont be that upset about losing him.
