But you argued there is no difference.
They are both regional teams, 1 is further away than the other, that's the difference.

NewcastleUnforgiven,
To help me understand your point of view, what team do you support?
Which is a massive differenceThey are both regional teams, 1 is further away than the other, that's the difference.
Yes and missing out on a Prelim game because of your stadium not being good enough is the perfect push for a new stadium.
See thats a dumb arguementYeah we need a stadium of Mt Smart quality...
Which is a massive difference
Most families dont go to an 8pm kickoff game anyway, its obvious that this is not the target audience for this game. Ill concede that the traffic and parking around the SFS is crap and that could be a turnoff.
See thats a dumb arguement
And I do not believe that Canberra has a good stadium. Week 3 games should be played in rectangular all seater venues, with adequate rain cover.
Ideally id love for Newcastle to host but understand why Townsville is different to Newcastle.lol wouldn't you prefer Newcastle get treated the same as Cowboys?
No Mt Smart isnt, but it has the same reason as Townsville to be exempt. My only arguement is to why Townsville gets an exemption and Canberea doesnt is distance. So you choose a city even further away to prove ur point. I guess Eden Park would be better but ive never been there. I have been to Mt Smart for a concert. Im guessing because its in New Zealand that the NRL dont really care what ground they use.Not really, you said our Stadium wasn't up to par. Obviously Mt Smart is then.
You're all over the shop mate.
Im only arguing that Townsville should be exempt because of distance but take distance out of it then it is not good enough either. Thats why they are building a new stadium. Maybe Canberra should too.Lol
And again now it's the quality of the venue.
Townsvilles venue passes muster doesn't it.
Why is it ok to use & others aren't?
And don't drag up this
Oh oh oh ... because it's soooooo far away
The policy is a horses for courses farce
& the above is proof
Its not proof though. Its unfortunate for Canberra but lets use this to get a new stadium down there.Lol

Check out this unforgiven moron. Canberra not a rectangular stadium? WTF? In what world?
By your logic, Homebush shouldn't host any finals because it's not rectangular and you're too far away from the action.
Canberra is under siege from the AFL. Say what you like about the Giants, but they are pumping millions in locally. My old school took down the rugby posts and replaced them with AFL posts because they were paid to do it, and they certainly aren't on their own. Junior participation numbers are dropping off.
Obviously a lot has to happen for us to get there, it's certainly no sure thing, but IF we earn the right to host the preliminary final, that would be exactly the sort of shot the NRL needs in the battle against the AFL. It would be absolutely amazing for the game in Canberra and the surrounding region.
But the NRL don't see that or simply don't care. 13 teams get that benefit, 3 don't. It's ridiculous and makes the NRL look completely unprofessional.
I don't get the NRL logic where they force Newcastle or Canberra to play in Sydney, surely it can't be for crowds. They get saturated fixtures throughout the year, many cross city rivalries and history yet ANZ & SFS struggle to get much more than 12000 a game and for most (not all) of the Sydney stadiums are lucky to be 2/3rd full.
At least Newcastle can get 14000 when their team is running last, that'd eclipse most Sydney crowds for each of the 26 rounds
You can't compare regular season games to prelim finals. As I posted well up thread, since the formatzion of the NRL in 1998, the lowest attendance for a preliminary final in Sydney was 27,555 in 1999 when Parramatta played the Melbourne Storm at the SFS.
