Again
For the 50th time
Their advantage is playing in their home city
We are potentially going to lose that advantage that we have earnt

Yet other teams will be not lose this huge advantage.

It'll be bad enough if we have to play the Bulldogs Sharks Penrith as a crowd will be drawn.

But If we have to play the Cowboys or Storm Titans Broncos in Sydney
Then officially
The NRL is run by utter Morons

WTF? So effectively what you are saying is that the system is only unfair if it adversely affects the Raiders. The fact that the likes of sharks/penrith don't get any games at their home grounds is as big, if not a bigger injustice than Canberra being excluded from hosting a prelim.

As for the bolded part, you clearly don't understand the venue rules. Should Canberra win this week, they have not earnt a home city prelim as you have asserted, it clearly states that you have earnt a home 'region' prelim. Ambiguous I know but that is the way the rules are written.

I support big stadia hosting finals, especially prelims. As usual the NRL have proven inept through inconsistency. AAMI and Townsville should not be ineligible and at least that way the rule would be consistent.

Has the NRL given a reason why the Penrith game is not at ANZ?

It might be (and I'm only speculating here) that:

(a) The ground is the Bulldogs actual home ground; and
(b) There may not be enough time to convert the ground back to its rugby league configuration due to the Swans - GWS Finals game being played there on Saturday afternoon (game is not scheduled to finish until around 6pm).

p.s.

No trackwork on the Western Suburbs railway line this coming weekend either.

Surely common sense will prevail in the case of exceptional circumstances.

I mean this whole policy only came about because of Buzz "Bag of Shit" Rothfield incessant campaigning.

As we all know, his views will do a remarkable 360 degree turn and suddenly want finals held at venues such as Lidcombe and the patch of grass near the foreshore in Hobsons Bay.

You want to make it to the big dance, you have to perform in the big smoke
If the GF is played in Sydney at ANZ, it makes sense that the prelims are to be held in major cities and give the event the spectacle it deserves

Finals always were centralised back in the 90s and prior. Every team had to play at the SFS. That was the reality. The fact the NRL - the rights holders to the finals series - have a policy allowing "home" games is a gift in itself.

The myth that they're actually home games needs to stop. They're NRL's and they decide where they're played.

Isn't that sorta the point? Having 14k at prelim final in Sydney isn't much of a
spectacle?

no point bitching and moaning about something you can't control. but i guess that's why forums exist and that's what supporters are gonna do.

Exaggerating a little, but the goal is to promote these as neautral games and get as many people to attend as possible.

If you get to 'host' a prelim, you get a week off anyway. That's a bigger advantage imo

No such thing as a 'home ground' when you go deep in the finals. Did people complain in 2012 and 2014 when the Bulldogs played the GF at their 'home ground'.

Oh F Off
We have earnt it

We're a team from Canberra
Not f**king Sydney

Either all finals are, played in Sydney
Which would be stupid , but consistent at least.

Or
All sides play all finals in their HOME CITY

Instead we have an all over the place dogs breakfast of an inconsistent
Moronic pile of poop

You haven't earned anything yet, you need to win first.

Even then - the NRL have the hosting rights. They choose where games are played.

You can bitch and moan until you're lime green in the face, won't change it.

You are such a sanctimonious little merkin aren't you? f**k the way you suck up to the NRL is disgusting.

They can really do no wrong in your eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if you have jazz covered posters of Greenberg plastering your wall you sack of shit.

That being the problem.
Every situation should be the same
How else can club's & fans feel like they are on a level playing field & equals.

Side one earns a prelim final in their home city by finishing in the top 4 & winning in week one finals

Side two . . Despite finishing in the top 4 & winning their first week final is told they have to travel 300 Ks to play their prelim final against a side that finished well behind them because, well
The NRL says so

Yeah nothing wrong with that is there ?

You think that isn't worth complaining about?
You think because we can't change it we'll give up calling the NRL on it

Fat chance
The chorus will in fact grow.
If we win on Saturday...
Up we'll get to continue our gripe
If we have to play another non Sydney team

In Sydney

Well up another notch it will rise
The lunacy has to end
And if this is the catalyst... Well then some good has, been done for the games sake.

The Raiders got 31,000 against the Broncos at the SFS in 1990.

It's 26 years but what has changed?
