Not a great way to go out but at least they didn't give up.

Will have to improve substantially in a number of different areas if we want to be competitive in 2015.

The first half was woeful.

The only chance they had tonight was getting off to a good start and well it couldn't have been any worse. The scary thing was, it was senior players like Hodges & Parker coming up with the biggest errors. I was very impressed with their reversal of form in the second but by then, the horse had already bolted.

Just glad the boys made it a contest and even gave the Cowboys plenty to think about but can't act like I'm not disappointed.

Think I might go...

Honorable mentions to Thaiday, McGuire & Hannant.

Ugh that first half. Gould said it best in the 2nd half: If they'd have just stopped one of those tries, it would've been a different ball game. The team came out and after an early try, it's as if they had no confidence in themselves.

Hodges showed his absolute brilliance yet again, but seriously, he can't play fullback next year. He's too old to master it, too slow and prone to some handling errors there. Perhaps 5/8th if Barba is offloaded, but I think the best balance for the team is him at centres, we need some penetration out wide.

The question for next year: where to now for Ben Hunt? I don't know if he went missing per se, but he couldn't stamp his authority on that match. He's struggled to close out (and sometimes show up for) BIG games this season. While he's been pretty exceptional for his first year in the role if he doesn't build on it, it's almost like it's for nothing. Big job for him next year, and the best of luck to him. Thankfully, I think Bennett is the right man for him.

Just another step for Ben Hunt last night. Yes he was a little "missing in action", but it was his first finals game at half. He'll only get better from the experience. He had such a great year, but needs to establish a combination with a No. 6 and No. 1.

The game was almost a carbon copy of Melbourne. Sorry to harp on about Griffin, but it seems he can't get the team up for decent starts, and they only come awake when things get desperate.

Take Hodges out of that team last night (and to a lesser extent Parker), and we would have been absolutely clueless - not an idea how to attack. Our attack in the Cowboys' 20 was embarrassing - schoolboys stuff - running across field, looking for some little break ... Hodges has only about one or two years left, so we better find another attacking leader fast.

Barba has to go. If he can't play fullback, he's shown he has no organisation skills at No. 6. Catching and passing isn't enough.

Maranta should be marked "never to play first grade ever again". To think, Griffin has preferred Maranta over Kahu (who put in a pretty good effort last night) for weeks. Hard to believe - the skill/speed levels between the two are chalk and cheese, but then again, Kahu's father didn't help start the Broncos.

On another note - go the Cowboys!

What happened to Gillet last night? He's down for making -5 all running metres?

Gillett hurt himself last week and was probably playing busted. If that was true I would have preferred to replace him with Oates.

I'm sure WB will be good for Hunt next year, once Bennett works with a player for a few seasons, the impact he has on them seems to stick.

I can,t recall Brett Plowman starting the Broncos. Brett is Lachlans father. You need to get your facts right Champ.

Hey "Champ" ... You're amazing observation doesn't change my point - Griffin has allowed nepotism and/or very poor judgement to poison the selection of the team.

Well I was just hoping we'd get into the 8 at the start of the year and even though we just scrapped in I'm not completely disappointed with the years effort. We were never going to be contenders against the top 4 so lots of good has come out of this year in what players we should be hanging onto and others to be rid of.

Last nights game was certainly no highlight especially the first half. Hodges even though made a couple of blunders ran so freely and quick I didn't think he still had it in him. Could have made a length of the field try last night. Gillett tackled like he was trying to pull up their panty hose - friggin woeful. Even when the guys in top form his tackling always hit or miss. Have no idea why Barba is playing with so little confidence. That try he made he was hardly backing himself at all. Sure we can find a better pairing for Hunt. And full back choice for next year will be interesting along with the whole Bennett time warp.

Champ, your always on about who shouldn't be in the team. I don,t see too many alternatives to Maranta. According to you no one is any good.

Did you even read my post? My point is that Grffin preferred Maranta over Kahu for weeks. Kahu was the alternative. Heck I've seen Stewart Mills play better than home boy Maranta but he went home to
Sydney because he could see the closed shop mentality fostered by the coach.

I've only ever seen Justin Hodges give a team mate a spray on the field a couple of times .... Both times our friend Lachlan.

You obviously don,t watch Intrust Cup. Kahu has hardly been killing it at Wynnum. Hodges needs to worry about his own form. Missed a few crucial tackles last night.

A person will usually rise and fall according to the company they keep. Put someone in reserve grade and most times he will adjust to that level.

And of course the reverse is true as we saw with Kahu last night who showed class in attack.

It takes real ability to spot potential - a talent Griffin lacks entirely.

All I've heard all year is that everyone outside the first grade squad 'aren't ready'. Well you're right ... but no one ever is until they are given a go.

Griffin's great regret is Porky Morgan didn't have a son who played footy.

Morgan did have a son who played at the Bronks. Also played at toowoomba when they where a feeder club. I thought a Bronks expert like you would have known that. Another Lachlan, (Lachlan Morgan).

Obviously you know more about the club than I. I'm a mere observer of the human condition.

No not at all. just get sick of people making stupid uninformed comments to quantify their postings. Just annoys me that people who have probably never played a game of footie in their lives see fit to bag anyone who does.
