Watching Kahu at Wynnum, he looked like a player who needed a season to find his confidence after all his injuries. Not playing NRL this year will be a plus for him in the long term. Kahu was tentative early on but gradually got better and started to look for work, even standing his ground in a few stinks in recent times. I've gone from sceptical to a fan.
Broken legs are often like that, it takes a couple of years to get back to where you were. Going back, I remember Greg Dowling breaking his leg late in 1981 when he was going great. Missed all of 1982 and started to strike some form at the end of the 1983 season. By the middle of 1984, he was the best prop in the world.
