Devastated to have lost that game but immensely proud of the team for hanging in there given the mounting injury toll. The LAM strip, Dufty taking the ball dead & dying with the ball not long into the 2nd half were critical. Add in the McInnes PTB penalty & they are easily the key moments that lost us the game.
It’s easy to be critical of Hunt but he will be regretting not taking ownership of that game with 20 to go like he did early in the 2nd half vs. Brisbane. Sure the Bunnies had momentum but we were still well in it & a little bit of game management gets us home.
Friz & Graham were immense & Lomax looks the goods.
Onwards & upwards for 2019.

Woke up this morning and still pissed that Hunt decided that last play.
Damn him.

You're kidding aren't you? It should have been a Dragons penalty. Everyone but you and the dickhead ref think that.

You do realise that this isn’t the first time McInnes has been involved in this type of incident. Penalty warranted or otherwise, it demonstrated he suffers from “brain farts” in crucial moments.

Go to bed dude, with your assman vibe

No mate, he could have passed over the dumb FCck Souffs Cnt, but the dopey fnuckle (did someone say he is Captiano material....yep he tackles OK ....but.........DOPEY.....no vision) cost us the game. I think that was the turning point. Bring on Robson in NRL and let the NRL decide.

Couldn’t agree more.

It’s not the first time McInnes has been involved in this type of incident. And guess what? He was penalised then as well. Obviously, learning from previous mistakes isn’t a strength.

One other point: did McInnes attempt ONE run out of dummy half? I cannot recall any examples.

Cook was the reason why Souths won. It’s as simple as that. Without a decent hooker, Saints will continue to flounder.

Blaming Hunt is absurd. If anyone should be held accountable (other than McInnes), it’s Au Mau for that loose carry.

You guys were pretty average. I think we would have romped home with our captain, five-eight and best forward playing the game.

I know we were average. The team knows they were average, and probably a bit lucky to have won. Take out Tom Burgess, Reynolds, Cook and to some extent Crichton, the rest were down on their game. This was influenced by a number of factors including the Dragons effort. While some may question decisions made by Dragons on field, no one can question their commitment. Yes if you had your best team on the field the result may have been different. But like all
hypothesis Of this nature the answer will never be known.

Hunt's not to blame, the play was on. Hunt was let down by those around him, particularly Mann, on that last play.

Was it risky? Definitely, but we had a two man overlap and I'm sure Hunt knew a kick would do nothing to halt Souths momentum

Then he should have made sure Mann was aware
Pass and hope?

It’s amazing how many FG’s have been kicked in this finals series.

Munster, Cronk, Reynolds, Townsend.

There’s your top 4 boys and girls. Big game players win big matches.

Hunt’s never kicked one. So I knew in a tight game, we were screwed. Probably why the all or nothing play on that last tackle as he probably knew he couldn’t execute a FG when it mattered.

That same situation happened many times during the game, both hookers adjusted themselves to make sure not to pass it into a defender.

Cam rolled the dice. He knew what the hell he was doing. It didn't come off and the rest is history.

The rule that it is then a penalty to the opposition is stupid though...it should just be play on.

Hmm maybe because it would've been 60m field goal attempt, and also because we had a two man overlap down the side but Mann decided not to keep passing and took the tackle. Hmmmm

Nope he could have chosen to kick it deep and backed himself in extra time like most good game managers. That was the percentage play. That’s what Reynolds would have done in the same situation.

Might be harsh, but it think he knew he couldn’t get it done in a FG shootout against Reynolds in extra time so he went for the low percentage all or nothing play.

Not exaxtly what I was expecting from a million dollar player.

Exactly, he rolled this dice. He knew what he was doing. Was a dud call but why take the risk?

Just like Hunt on the last tackle. Play the percentages and try to win with your talent.

All or nothing plays rarely work out for us. Think Widdop and his kick out in the full in 2015. Again, our go to players fail to get it done.

I disagree regarding the legitimacy of the McInnes penalty.

The rule was brought in to stop the cynical throwing of the ball into an opposition player by the dummy half, and thus gaining an an unwarranted penalty.

Where in the rule does it say the dummy half has to alter what they were going to do simply because an opposition player is illegally in the ruck?

At worst, it should've been play on.

Yeah this is right. Murray was right in the line of the pass, but would’ve just been in Cam’s peripheral vision, didn’t look deliberate to me

The whole rule change was a massive over-reaction.

If the referees used some common sense and simply made it play on instead of rewarding the original perpetrators with a penalty, then the NRL wouldn't have this clusterf#$%.
