Finals Week One

McGregor has put a distance between fans and the team - My preference was to have a home final, then play Panthers, then play Broncos at Brisbane, however I can't help but feel the team can suck it up. They keep talking and talking "no worries, not phased bla bla bla" - go and show us you are as good as you say you are because I ain't buying it.

How soon til that old familiar rhetoric 'looking to improve next year...Mary has plans bla bla bla' starts spewing out?

Heard it all before.

Some might say I should shut up and enjoy the game but this season shows us right to very last minute that it is not going to reward our ineptness.
Wait till the excuses come out and the deflection of blame.

Mary will spend 90% of this week coming up with that speech, 5% minutes coaching the team, 5% doing his hair.

Unless they decide to head to Terrigal for a heart to heart.

With Widdop back I wonder if playing Mann at centre makes sense.. clearly out wide especially on Oates wing is where they score points... Mann is a good defender much better then Aitken and Lomax whilst has all the potential is still very green

Broncos mates already into me and I’m going to the game...

Pros:

Widdop back

No-one will expect anything from us

Plenty of Dragon supporters up here.

Cons:

our lack of forward depth will hurt us...we will really miss Vaughan here and Jammer and LAM will need to have a big impact.

Lack of fire power out wide.

Mary’s selections, strategy and bench use.

Jdb injury concern.

We have it in us to spring an upset, but it is going to be tough...really tough. We need to defend our way to victory. We need 4 forwards on the bench and ALL get a fair chunk of game time. We need a defensively strong backline so Mann to centre and JP retain their spots.

It wasn’t that long ago we were beating the top teams.

I have a dream.

Although we look anything but a finals campaigner, It has been said; “Finals football is a different mongrel.” Could it be the finals atmosphere that evokes a miraculous form reversal which awakens the boys from our end of season slumber and see’s them pull off a series of all time kick ass upsets?

Go the Dragons
Love your optimism, passion or whatever..but na. Dragons need the game to be refereed and policed like it was in the first few weeks to have a chance. the whistle will be put away for the semis and Broncos will be rushing up at us offside and will win the ruck with their wrestle,,,as we are too slow with the ball in hand and cant score many. It will be down to how well we defend and how many errors they make.

The 40,000 + Broncos crowd plus the emotional Big Sammy farewell will mean there will be plenty of 50/50 calls going the Broncos way. Despite that I have a feeling we will go ok. The Broncos will be expected to win and everything went the Broncos way today. Corey Oates usually comes up with the odd error. None today. Surely not two weeks in a row. We will have to avoid giving away too many penalties early.

It will take me a few days to find something positive to say about our prospects next week.

It will be a massive challenge for the boys.

Brissy in its current form with those rampaging young forwards are for me a chance of winning the premiership. Bennett has them coming home with a wet sail.

On the other hand we have the master tactician, McGenius.

Enough said.

Nope.

Cows lost 5 out of their last 6 games to limp into 8th place after we gifted them a spot in the semis.

They only started their run after beating the Sharks first week of the finals.

Hoping we can do the same.
Fair point stand corrected...but I am sure they went on a run earlier / mid that year after a horrid start and then injuries cruelled them. Anyway I go off what i can recall without checking and could be wrong there too. But Dragons results and form is embedded from any year recently

Win or lose , please please Ben Hunt no dropped ball from a kickoff. The crowd would go wild.
