Of course the bench press requires the use of your shoulders! It's one of the key components! Thats why you can often get shoulder injurys from the bench press.

Of course it is,but the exercises he'd be struggling with would be exercises like shoulder press,lateral raises etc.

Besides the fact that like Saab pointed out,you lift using your legs and hips not your actual shoulders they're carriers(in regards to the tackle).
