The first Frenchman to play in the NRL/NSWRL was Jacques Moliner who played 1 or 2 games for Penrith in 1987.

The NRL didn't exist then.

NSWRL was a regional league. IIRC Brisbane and Canberra joined in 1988.

NRL began in 1998.

Gary French played a handful of games for the Broncos in the late 80's after a premiership-winning career with the Souths Magpies in the BRL.

Remi Casty was born and raised in France, and played all his professional career in France for Catalans Dragons before joining the NRL.

It matters to the French fans and players, as well as anyone interested in international development of the game.

You wouldn't expect it to matter to insular cretins like "The Enforcer."

There is no player born and raised in the USA or South Africa, who played his junior or professional rugby league in USA or South Africa, who has scored a try in the NRL.

France born, raised and trained Remi Casty is in a different category from the Australian trained "USA" and "South Africa" players.

Surely Dimitri Pelo counts, he was born in New Caledonia which is a part of France.

I'll pay this. The first frenchman born in "France" to score a try in the NRL was Pelo not Casty. Also played professionally in France before coming to the NRL.
