Fus is next the way things are going. Heck RTS will probably leave to Union when his contract expires with you guys.

Well he'd have to be content with being a backup seeing your full strength squad for next year

I don't think so... he probably should be first choice (or close enough to) for either centre slot plus the right wing position... unless you know of some incomings we don't?

Of course he probably won't be, because Cappy doesn't seem that keen on him despite his obvious talents (athletically great, already the best out and out finisher at the club and has proven more willing to set up other players - or just the most capable at doing so). He needs work - but in our backline, who doesn't?

Well my 2016 backline right now is

1. RTS
2. Maumalo
3. Lolohea
4. Kata
5. Vatuvei

Kata has been shit the last month or so. Maumalo is probably more suited to the back row maybe. Fusitua is very good and could replace either but at the end of the day the coach makes the decision

If Fus can harden up a bit (mentally as well as physically - he's got the bulk now, but is still scared and easily intimidated) he'd be 1st pick any day of the week you'd think.

Maumalo has no business being on the wing, and hopefully they realise it before the start of next season.

I think Lolohea may start in the 14 jersey, but depending what Konnie does I ciould see him starting in the centres to.

Damn, real pity to lose Fish. He has had periods of playing well, but as others have said, just too injury prone. Still a loss for mine though. I feel we must have another signing in the works, our outside backs are just too weak.

Oh, and for mine Fus would be straight in the starting side, both now and next year. Great talent.

we need to find ourselves a fijian winger. they go good. Tanivalu from Chiefs and Taranaki springs to mind although plays Centre. Rennie hardly played him and he went great guns for the The Naki last year.

TBH I think Fusitua is so far ahead of Maumalo it's not even a decent comparison. I'd probably have him over Kata too (though Kata is promising, last month aside), and Lolohea I'd prefer at 6, since the only alternative appears to be TL, as there doesn't seem to be any interest in Mitch Cornish - a guy who I would look to take on a Chad-like deal.. lowish money, 2 years plus extra year option in our favour (decent chance of landing him I'd guess, since he doesn't seem to be getting much interest NRL wide, which is weird given a real dearth of genuine chance-creating halves in the comp). Maumalo I'd leave in NSW cup as the reserve version of Manu (and unless he significantly improves he would be covering ONLY Manu, not the other winger - as he'd be picked to replace Manu's metres rather than attacking output, to keep the balance of the team). Book the man in for some trampoline sessions (finishing school).

But yeah, I've lost faith in Cappy making the right choices. So we'll probably end up recruiting the wrong fringers, playing TL at 6 rather than bench utility, and generally just not getting the best out of the roster until he gets the sack and we've wasted a precious year of the good roster.

Could have been something great but injuries didn't help and I felt he was never really hungry enough on the park. Didn't feed him much either to be honest.

Good luck to him.

Fus scores some pretty flashy tries but he needs to sort out his defence, at times it's absolutely woeful.

Yep definitely, but we can add Kata, Hurrell, Maumalo, and Manu to that list - plus the recently departed Fish

I'd rate Fusitua as a better defender than all of our outside backs except Wright (and probably Lolohea, if you're going to play him at centre). That doesn't say a lot (as his defensive game obviously needs work), and in some cases he wouldn't be better by much.. but given how few games he's had, and how good other parts of his game are.. he just looks a top prospect, better than all of the other backs for me (since Laumape has gone). He's a better finisher than Kata, he has shown a much better ability to set up his outside man than Kata (ok, that's not hard - Kata has managed 1 assist in 21 games) and he's a good strong ball runner.. just needs some development.
