When I went to collect my season pass etc Fisk was standing at the front desk talking to Graeme Wynne.
It was chaos, I waited for about 20 minutes maybe more for them to bring a box of hats and stuff from storage.
There were people standing around everywhere waiting.
One young girl was working the counter...and was clearly out of her depth.
She needed some help to serve everyone.

If that had been Gow he would have noticed what was going on and fixed it.
Fisk was oblivious.

I was there at the same time all that was going on. Fisks time was up, he was dead wood. Damien Irvine has a lot better image in most fans eyes and sponsors eyes.

The club had a bit of a boys club atmosphere that lead to money being wasted and things going unsaid. Irvine seems to have changed that slightly.

Irvine promised he wasnt getting rid of stuart, stuart fell on his sword (i for one wish he hadnt), so irvine hasnt lied yet and i see no reason to believe he did in that interview.

So you are now calling Brown a liar for denying any contact and the Chairman a liar as well for saying the same?

hyperbolic much?

there is a big difference between keeping confidential contacts confidential and lying

when you leave uni and get into the real world you will see this as part of everyday life

negotiations and discussions of such type with players and coaches and recruitment agencies customers and sponsors are by necessity kept confidential

and so they should

I wish I was still at uni.

Again, Brown and Irvine emphatically deny any approach has been made.

Is the possibility that someone is stirring up trouble non existent in your train of thought?

The Club probably had succession plans for Ricky no doubt, I think Flanaghan was always going to be the option with the money we had available.

as one would expect

do you seriously think all such approaches and discussions are confirmed publically?

Is the possibility that someone is stirring up trouble non existent in your train of thought?

oh let me see

we have a club on a record losing streak and things showing no sign of improvement

do i

1. do nothing

2. discreetly have a look around for other options

geeze jc ... i wonder which is more likely......

Why deny it though?

What does the club lose by saying it was looking at other options??

What sounds better:

1) Quitting because you cannot work with others in the organisation despite really really wanting to stay.

Or

2) Seeing that your career has headed downhill over the past three years, pressure is mounting, and you have ran out of ideas how to improve things?

Again, more speculation and innuendo. But just as likely as your reasoning as well.

funnily enough I was talking to a woman the other day who has no interest in footy and she said. ( just after he quit )

Probably in his best interest to quit as the constant losing cannot be good for his reputation as a coach.
Who'd want to hire a coach who's team loses every week.

Hard to argue with it.

Why deny it though?

these types of things are regularly denied

the club doesnt want it public they are moving on the coach and the recipient is honor bound to keep a confidence

if brown blurts out 'yeah the sharks offered me 200k" that would be the end of any approaches to him by other clubs and the end of his career

What does the club lose by saying it was looking at other options??

only the vapid would think they dont

and i would expect those at the club involved in such dealings to keep them confidential

wouldnt you?

Yeah yeah millers but the main point is , was Ricky shafted, as he wanted to stay at the club?
If he wasn't, then what do you think his osbornes & Fisks agenda is?

Are Osbournes and Fisks departure related??

I guess tonight is the perfect chance for Osbournes departure to be cleared up.

I have heard that Osbourne simply saw how bad the place was and realised he could earn much better money in a lot easier job then what was on offer at Sharks.

1. dunno - if he was deposed as i think is most likely then i think the club was entirely justified

2. to alert the public that the new leadership is not acting professionally

i hasten to add i dont know for sure - unlike other posters here claim to

Damian Irvine said:
"We've got to start repairing our brand because it's suffered so much damage in the past couple of months," Irvine said. He said Fisk had been appointed on a fulltime basis and would continue beyond this season. Pierce is expected to go as soon as Monday. He had wanted to stay to nurse through Cronulla's $90 million DA application on 29 June, but council has reserved its decision until August 4.

So where did the Fisk was a short term fix come from all of a sudden?

Yes it's from a year ago and to be honest I probably read it incorrectly. I took it to read beyond this contract

It's fairly obvious there has been a falling out but things don't seem as bad as some may think listening to both those interviews.

It seems at least everyone has decided to air a professional attitude publicly, which is a small relief.

http://blogs.abc.net.au/files/fisk_league.mp3 Fisk

http://blogs.abc.net.au/files/irvine_sun.mp3 Irvine

For those that haven't heard them.

Both have stated the club is safe.

That is a massive relief for me and the number one issue.

Honestly and logically, do you think either of them would come out and say the club is fugged jc?

Why would Fisk need to mention that the club is safe though? Damien saying it is one thing. Fisk is another, he is walking away, he doesn't need to keep people reassured.

Perhaps Fisk is not vindictive. Perhaps he still has friends and associates he would not want to compromise as far as employment for example, all those people that came up to him asking him to stay. Perhaps he thinks the club is bigger than one man. Perhaps he wants to see if the club can continue his good work, he'd still be up for credit there.

That's a few reasons off the top of my head.

The reality is that no one involved is going to come out and paint doom and gloom (whether that's the case or not). It's not how things are done jc.
