Flanno's New Signings

If we sign Ilias the pusti malaka, I hope he is the reincarnation of the late great Tommy Raudonikis for us.

Ahhhh, ATM it's all backdoor Greek to me, especially with Bwaiff involved.

Throw in Nick Tsougranis for 25 and we're all good for a traditional lamb spit roast. Imagine the whole team taking turns basting with olive oil and rosemary.

Tom was a legend out west. He had a sports store just off the Main Street in Blacktown and then in Westpoint. Lived down near the golf course and would often be seen jogging around it. Sadly now the golf course is a housing estate. If Ilias is half the player Tom was, it’s a win for us DB.

Surely we will have a few big boppers on T&T contracts looking to fill the void in our roster.
Thought we were looking at a prop, along with a few other clubs, in the Queensland Cup a few months back??
Cannot remember his name though.

Is it time to 'sign' Moses Suli as a wide running second rower...and shift one of the other forwards to full time middle.
The imminent Illias signing could be better than most are predicting
He already has a combo with Cookie from their Souths days
He'll also realises this is a golden opportunity for him to "repay the faith" that others have him in
Mentioned previously we looked a lot smoother in attack when our Marquee Seven was absent
We werent playing Under 8 style footy with the Star away..
We desperately still need that elusive hard nosed prop to stiffen up our pack

I'm backing the judgement of Flanno, Cookie and other senior figures in the club with the potential Ilias signing.

We need a genuine change in player attitude. So far, it is positive change with the players we've signed. We need people in this place who are hungry to prove themselves and buy into the mission and direction that Flanno is taking the club.

If the Broncos are in the box seat for Bunt, who could possibly fall out of the tree from a front row perspective? There is no doubt they will have to shed in order to make the salary cap work...

Fletcher Baker ?
Xavier Willison ?

I am still concerned that we may not get an enforcer and the results may not end up being anything but slightly better than 2024. The options are getting thinner...

While I hope Flanno has a backup plan in mind.... if he doesnt we may not get the prop before Round 1.. i.e. if we are waiting for one to 'shake free' PLUS we need to actually win his signature over the dogs etc.

No point stressing though, its Flannos issue to deal with as always! Harder for him now that hes also in pre-season, but im sure he has spare time until february when it really heats up and hopefully we have our CEO, GM & Recruitment guys sorted..

I think Ilias is good signing and one that can become a great half if he stays injury free. We had similar reservations when Jacob Liddle joined and now he has turned into one of our best players.

Check this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUOaAjoFSLI.

Interesting he was a Tigers junior and did some apprenticeship under Adam Reynolds in South.
So he has had 2 broken legs?

Whoever the new half is i would have thought he needs to be appointed as soon as possible so he can have to whole off season to train with the side & build up a combination with Flanno Jnr or whoever the 5/8 is going to be. If it is correct that Illias has had a medical then i would hope an announcement will be made within the next week. It is Friday tomorrow (their favoured announcement day.

I'm not here to rain on your parade I have watched souths since 1960 we are no longer souths members due to lachlan ilias he is the worst #7 I've ever witnessed play the game.nothing to do with reyno moving on yes he is a good kid yes he tries his heart out yes he is very popular in the playing group but lets get real here he is a reggies player at best.i will not renew our souths membership now that ilias has left he is a dud and you can thank cookie for his signing and I thank cookie too that he is gone.lastly ilias was rated the 14th worst #7 in the nrl i rate him 17th the worst..

Well, I don't understand it either but we will find out very quickly in the new year, I suppose. Perhaps as early as the Charity Shield.

Here's a thought. Cook is with us only until end 2026. Then we will have Liddle as hooker for 2027 but no clear back-up. So now Mulheisen is gone, who will be in the pathway?

Ilias has been scheduled in the hooker rotation at Souths. I wonder if he will be brought over to cover #9 as well as being a #7 backstop...until suitable juniors come through the pathways.

There is a young 9 that was brought over from Penrith (?) or somewhere but he won't be ready for years.

Jubilee with due respect ilias is the worst #7 on planet earth.

I went and watched Illias games from this year (2 in total), and he is what I found.

1) Has a long kicking game easily 50 metres on long kick.
2) has a short kicking game, just the kick near the line does not go as high as I would like.
3) good defender - not scared to tackle the big boys.
4) seems a good backer-upper up the middle.
5) He was not dominant from what I could see ( Latrell, Walker, Cook and Murray seem to dominate so he had little opportunity. they hogged the ball - not sure how any 7 could control that team.
6) Good cover defender.
7) Seems to need to be told you control the team.
8) would appear to run at the line and take a hit to create opportunities outside.

It would seem if Flanno can get him confident, he might be quite a good half. Souths really dropped him when Walker and Latrell made lost of mistakes eg kick ball out on the full, throw intercept pass to Saab; poor kickk on the 5th etc.

Worst #7 on planet earth.

Our attack is going to look a lot different without hunt demanding the ball and doing whatever he likes. Ilias can dig deep into the defensive line which will give our outsides backs space. I think we can expect Holmes and Suli to get a lot of early ball which our centres never seemed to get either

Murfy with due respect i rate ilias the worst #7 thats played the game since 1960 at any club he is a reggies player period.ile tell you now he would not get a half back spot even back in the 60's or 70's..

Competition for wing spots will be interesting, Sloan, Tulipuloto, Allen and Lawson. I still think that Fafita and LPT will be playing prop off the bench this season.
If Sloan is able to follow Gutherson breaks or for that matter any of his teammates , then the tries will follow .

However the young man will need to accept his change of position to the wing and if that is indeed the case he will become a far better all-round player .

He will need to take the bit between his teeth to do so - not sit back waiting for opportunities to come his way .

Respect your take and understand your doubts.

LKT is still there. He seems totally forgotten, but he is a player who rose rapidly last year.

Flanno’s system is proven. And he doesn’t buy players he can’t get something out of.

Who has he bought to his teams that have not improved?

Fifita. Matt Prior. Jack Bird was a gun for him before injuries.

And of course, Townsend.

We also beat Penrith and Brisbane away from home with no Hunt last year. Compromised by Origin to a degree, but whatever. Our halves were Flanno Jr and Jesse, who he’s let go.

Anyway, here’s hoping that trend continues with Ilias.

Ronnie with due respect he will be the worst #7 you have ever seen play rugby league.
