That is my pet hate. Three year and even two year extensions for players no other teams are clamoring for. Drives me nuts.

I remember apasai toga very well I think he cut his foot on an oyster shell in Fiji and got tetanus and died apparently inisai preaches in the west of Sydney in a church these days.billy was the real deal my whole family followed saints and I was the black sheep of the family who followed souths those were the days at kogarah + Redfern.

Here's a thought. Cook is with us only until end 2026. Then we will have Liddle as hooker for 2027 but no clear back-up. So now Mulheisen is gone, who will be in the pathway?

Ilias has been scheduled in the hooker rotation at Souths. I wonder if he will be brought over to cover #9 as well as being a #7 backstop...until suitable juniors come through the pathways.

There is a young 9 that was brought over from Penrith (?) or somewhere but he won't be ready for years.

The club hasn't taken up the option for Liddle for 26 let alone signed for 27 so atm cook is signed for longer
Muhleisen is still at the club in the cup Squad
Phillips is over rated n here because it was reported in the media he is one of around 20 guys we would sign to pathways. Unwanted at the Dogs after they signed Matts premiership winning 9 from Warriors
Kyan Hjaltason is our next up in pathway and training with the NRL squad this pre-season

All good mate you are entitled to your opinion but your problem at the club isn't young Ilias , it's the same problem we had here with Hunt ........ But your problem is bigger you have two blokes that think they are bigger than your club Latrell and Codey both drop kicks ........

Fair point.

There is 1 or 2 pommy half backs running around in England that were said to be better than dodd maybe grab one of them if all fails we had too.id find it basically impossible if ilias was better than dodd but souths recruitment over the past 4yrs aint much to write home about sure wighton was a decent pick up.

Wouldn’t be surprised that Ilias is actually brought on for a half role 2025 only and competes for a hooker role 2026/27 ie a cookie and Ilias maybe 2026 ?

On last year's effort Liddle would be a massive loss imo.

Even if he needed to transition to lock ala Cam McInnis in order to fit in a second dummy half.

He's proved he's tough enough.

I thought he was our most consistent and valuable player last season.

Must keep.

Ok, I can live with one of the twins playing lock and the other playing prop. But we DO need an alfa prop and right now Thompson is the only one left that could do the job.

We have the cap space and the cash so all it would take is some creative narrative to get this deal over the line.

How about Lawrie / Thompson swap with Saints paying half Lawries salary for 2025.

Lawrie looks leaner these days and might be a good backup prop to the Knights; at a reasonable price.

And Thompson may consider it a promotion to be our alfa prop forward.
