Wouldn’t be surprised that Ilias is actually brought on for a half role 2025 only and competes for a hooker role 2026/27 ie a cookie and Ilias maybe 2026 ?

Liddle has been great for us and just turned 28 (in October). He has to be part of the puzzle.

Anyway, these are just my mental gymnastics as I try to justify signing Ilias.

We have the cap space and the cash so all it would take is some creative narrative to get this deal over the line.

Who knows how much money we have? The cap is $11.3m. I guess (?) that has to be spread 30 ways, an average salary of $377k.

Once you have Gutho on $900k, Holmes on $700k, Sua on $600k, then Cook, JDB, Suli, Sloan, Liddle, Leluia, Couchman × 2 on (say) $500k, than that is $6.2m, leaving $5.1m for the remaining 19 positions, an average of $270k each.

A certain number of these 19 are on the most basic salaries. But if we are going to offer Leo Thompson or Campbell-Gillard $800k, it will come out of the pockets of the guys who are not on minimum salaries.

Cookie should never had said ilias is a great half back maybe they are very close mates i know cookie is from the burg and im born only a few suburbs away in illawarra. Anyway as I stated we threw our family memberships in becoz ilias was a dud.. yes jubilee its a business nowadays well I treated it the same way about ilias + our family memberships as a business decision.if I was running souths id throw in mamouzelos to saints for free he has nothing to offer also and souths extended mamouzelos for three more years and he is a dud #9 the mind boggles what souths do.
