Your forgetting Duffman in terms of speed

He was pretty to watch in full flight
100 percent I forgot the Duffman and have said previously that I can't understand the way the game has changed and got quicker , that no one can utilize him if not at fullback off the bench against tiring players ........

We have quite a few juniors with speed who wanted to play fullback but were very poor in defence:

Cummins
Quinlan
Sailor
Dufty
Sloan

I watched the reserve match between roosters and bunnies today, just to look more at Illias. He dropped a ball thrown behind him, and threw an intercept later in the match. However, was impressed with his attacking kicks in particular, and he throws some mean flat balls, often cutouts by running deep into the line. In addition, some really good solid defence, particularly liked the one on there big winger close to the line (Dominic youngs brother). My opinion just went I up a few Notches

only thing I’m unsure is how his really long range kicking is. Seems ok, but it wasn’t often they were coming out of their 20

Good info. Seems that both he and Kyle are guys who predominantly look for runners, which is fine bcs with Cook, Liddle, Sua, Leluia, et al, they should have plenty. And maybe Sloan can come in off the wing too, a la Blacklock. And it is not a small thing that they are both reliable defenders.

Great news, let's hope Ilias is ready too go by game one this year.

Long term I see Kyle Flannigan moving to lock. This will give the Dragons a unique 4 prong attack around the ruck without compromising our middle defense in 2026 (Cook, Flannagan, Ilias, and Atkinson).

Over the next couple of years we will have some bright juniors competing for middle positions and young halfback Reed completing for Ilias's halfback position.

Regarding our long kicking game in 2025, we also have Holmes and Guterson who can kick long.

There is going to be a lot of competition at lock. LKT and Finau Latu to begin with. And some people like a big body at lock. So one of the Couchies could easily play there. Plenty happening in the young forwards at saints.

By the way, I was watching some video from 2023 where one of the Couchman boys was playing. An opposition winger got into the open and the Couchman pursued. Ofc he didn't catch him but wow, he really had a good top speed.

I'd say 2 front rowers short. Let's hope Fifita and Tonga hit the ground running.
We need Hame Sele playing or like for like + another prop of at least similar quality.

For all the good backs we have secured it might be undone by the lack of ability to get those forwards. Our only chance now is that the young big boys rise. There's a chance of that fortunately!

I get the impression that Flannagan is happy with what we have. Sure, he'll chase a big name but he doesn't care about lesser lights who might become available - like Hazleton, for example. I think we are going to have a young, homegrown pack for the near future as reserves come through.
