I've no doubt that Flanno and Val have been talking for ages, but him rocking up to training seems hard to imagine unless its a near sure thing... as its bound to result in photos and potentially drama... but it would be essentially him checking out 'the facilities' so to speak..

I wouldn’t think a first grade rugby league team would allow a player from another team to check out how they train. I could be wrong though.

He's a really good player. Can slip into dummy half, good ball skills. Great work ethic. Old fashioned tough. Has a dumb penalty in him occasionally. Not often I begrudgingly admit I like an opposition player but he's a good one.

They love Plath up there (we wont get guys who are happy at their club), the best case scenario is we find our own Plath or Hazleton, someone who is stuck in reserves behind established forwards.. but realistically.. we have our own young guys (18-19yrs old so still a while off), we have our couchmans (if extended, nrly 21 and probably bench ready).

So Flanno is only looking for guys who come into our squad in 2025 and make IMMEDIATE impact.. hes not looking for more projects.. from his perspective he needs a 2nd good year for 1st grade to a) retain his job and b) build that momentum that allows us to keep improving that roster... we cant afford to fail during this rebuild period.

You are probably right they don’t usually miss a target. Amazing what a difference it makes when your financial backer is a passionate supporter of the club & wants success. Sigh !

I reckon 2 props is the most we would want, but chasing 3 gives us options if we dont get the one we want.

Hopefully the Holmes deal resolves soon also, I think it impacts what we look at next.. noting that Holmes is also a good fullback cover should we need it.

there is still flux around how many spots we have.. because it depends how many we can sell off that are in contract.

I actually think 2 Couchmans might push FMolo into reserve grade.. sort of hoping we have them locked up before Nov.. but I would think they may be waiting to see what Flanno is doing with his pack.. but.. hopefully it all sorts itself out.. esp if were winning games, im sure they would be mad keen.
