He is part of the problem if anything. Flanno obviously thinks he is a good assistant which is mind boggling but he won't get the top job no chanceYep as long as D. Young doesn't get the job .......

You're a classic apologist mate.Who's narrative is this? As if Flanno's tenure is all hinging on a round 10 game. Pure and utter crap. This bullshit keeps getting brought up by the Flanno haters after each loss. The cone of silence after each win is deafening. Flanno won't lose his job, in fact, he will be extended. The only thing that worries me is if Flanno decides to move on due to the shit board he has to work with. Having to agree to have D Young as his senior assistant coach is just more moronic management from arguably the worst board in footy land.

Spot on.You're a classic apologist mate.
"The cone of silence after each win is deafening" - Pal there's been more losses than wins under Flanagan so far. Most of our wins under him have been less than convincing and not much to get excited about, they are most just about papering over the growing cracks.
"He will be extended"
- Wow big call, I'm not sure how you can be so confident. So far there is no upward trend in performances year on year. To earn an extension you'd at least want to see improvement each season. As KF7 has stated, based on last year's efforts, for Flanagan to earn an extension, a minimum 8th place finish this season would be required. Let's see how close we get and what eventuates, but to see he will be extended as if it's a sure thing is just naive and foolish.
"The only thing that worries me is if Flanno decides to move on"
Hahahaha what rubbish. If he wants to move on I'll help him pack his bags and drive him to wherever he were to land. I would ask you to rack those tiny brains back to before Flanagan was handed a third chance at coaching by the Dragons. He was not wanted by any other clubs as a head coach in anything other than an assistant coach capacity. That speaks for itself, doesn't it? To date his performances at the dragons would make him about as in demand as his three predecessors are for head coaching roles at the moment. He absolutely zero chance of being offered anything else in the NRL unless he can drastically reverse course.
"Having to agree to have D young as assistant"
He was a desperate man and made many concessions to get the role and couldn't wait to bring his son in, as soon as he got here. That was his lack of foresight. When Ryles was in the frame he demanded all the changes to management that us fans have been screaming out for. Flanagan didn't care about making these demands, he tried to convince himself and us supporters that he could fix this mess by himself. That is firmly his fault and will play a part in his eventual undoing and so it should.
If he wanted to soar like an eagle, then he should've used his initial employment as an opportunity to bring about change for the greater good of the club.
Flanagan plays the juniors because he has to not because he wants to.Juniors don't fall in your lap if you don't play them.
Toby is definately playing through injury. Poor kid is getting needled up before every game he won't last the full year in the middle surely.Flanagan plays the juniors because he has to not because he wants to.
What I mean by this is that due to his inept recruitment in the forwards, he has had to give all the younger forwards a run. You can be assured that if he lasts in to next season, he will sign some more inept forwards this off season that will then block pathways of some of the younger guys who have been introduced this season.
Secondly, Flanagan is playing many of them out of position. Whilst the Couchman brothers who look the most promising in my opinion, are good young forwards, they should not be playing front row and being used as battering rams. Ryan is now injured for the season and Tony's knee has been strapped heavily in most games since the early rounds. We're not getting the best out of either of them or others when they're not being introduced to first grade the way they should be.
But hey it's not as if Despo Flanno has even given two flying f**ks about player welfare, so who can be surprised by that?

Is it exactly your sentiment?Great post. This is exactly my sentiment exactly.
"Flanagan was forced to have Young as his senior assistant" seems a few of you have some nice insider knowledge aswell. Give yourself and uppercut“Flanagan plays the juniors because he has to not because he wants to”
In your opinion and of course we all know you have inside knowledge that we merely mortals are not privileged to. What garbage.
It's a simple fact, no inside knowledge required.“Flanagan plays the juniors because he has to not because he wants to”

Negative slant on a Flanno positive. Surprise, surpriseFlanagan plays the juniors because he has to not because he wants to.

Dellusional he inherited a basket he case needs time!No chance he gets extended unless we make the 8. Then if we start next year badly he will be gone, hasn't earned an extension yet not even close. He has been blessed with a crop of juniors that fell in his lap. Starts today, if we don't perform the drums will start beating louder and louder

All the outside hype is that Young is a real coaching talent. In here - he is lucifer. Maybe the truth is somewhere in between…He is part of the problem if anything. Flanno obviously thinks he is a good assistant which is mind boggling but he won't get the top job no chance
Great work trying to type 'idiot' twice. You're clearly a smart one, buddy.Id
Idiot!
Who takes over then champ?
Yeah good one, how many premierships has Ricky brought to Canberra in eleven seasons of coaching with a 52% win record?Proof is in the pudding you stick with a premiership winning coach look how Canberra are going could have punted Ricky a few times but held their nerve.
Flanno has done what we all wanted that previous coaches wouldn’t do give our juniors a go!
