Folau turns back on Eels to play rugby union

But you have stated that Israel's $600k is a mid-range deal (really a bumped $400k deal), meaning he is out of that top range that gets the major bump.

So with major players going from $600k to $1m (your words) and a rise in the minimum wage, there goes the small increase the cap will get.

Meaning nothing left for the middle, such as Israel.

Meaning your full of shit, according to yourself.

Thanks.

Mate it's really not that hard to learn about apostrophes.

You should look into it some time.

just what i think

i know our media blows things up at times, but they generally just state single year amounts not total contract amounts

Source:

Israel Folau will turn his back on at least $1.5 million to return to rugby league with the Parramatta Eels on a back-ended four-year deal that could be worth $2.5 million.

Source:

In a huge boost to the club ahead of Friday night's preliminary final against the Bulldogs, News Limited and Fairfax websites report Hayne will next week ink a four-year deal worth $2 million.

Source:

Melbourne have moved to stave off poaching raids on Cooper Cronk by tabling a $2.2 million deal to keep the Queensland halfback at the Storm for life.

Source:

Rabbitohs half Chris Sandow signs four-year $1.6 million deal with Parramatta Eels

So you see, they often do report the total contract value, because it looks bigger and therefore more newsworthy.

So just to put a bit more of a positive spin back on things:

He was the 2008 Dally M Centre of the year! I seem to recall him being an outstanding defender on one side of the field (was it the right?) and not so hawt on the other (left?). I could be wrong?

Let's hurry up and get this thing announced

All a bit weird Izzy saying he is considering all options , yet Edwards / Stuart talking like it is almost a done deal.

I find it really strange how the front office is handling this. Stuart big article in today's paper talking about the return and how he doesn't know where he will play etc... Can't help but think keeping quiet would be the best approach.

The dogs have made enquiries about Izzy. Don't know how they can afford him with their roster. They just bought TREX for 650k a year.
I think it was in the Tele today, but i read somewhere that the Warriors are looking at signing Steve Turner. He only signed a one year deal though.

In relation to boxy's quote here:

I don't think so ME - that's the kind of money you would think Hayne or Thurston would earn, not Folau.

saying $600k is too much for Israel, you posted:

You have to adjust your thinking now that the salary cap is going up.

$600k used to be elite (Hayne, Thurston, Marshall) money. Now those guys will be on a million dollars or more.

$600k is still a big contract, and teams will only be able to afford a couple of them under the new cap, but it's now for the second tier stars - guys who used to be on about $400k.

which says that Israel is a $400k player, and that the $400k now equals $600k.

The rest of it is irrelevant and I've created no strawman.

There is no 50% bump in the cap. There will not be in the frame of Israel's contract.

Therefore, you're full of shit, as usual.

If Israel gets a $625k contract, that's the equivalent of a $534k contract this year, taking into account the 17% increase in the cap for 2013.

That's it, Poupou.

You can go and do you're usual attempts at twisting and turning but they're meaningless. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You make shit up, backtrack and try to twist earlier posts to fill the holes that become apparent and continually make yourself look like a dickwad in doing so.

A $625 deal is not a 2012 $400k deal. It won't be until 2017/8 at the earliest, by which time Israel will need a new contract.

Go ahead and post your usual drivel but it's meaningless and everyone can see it (except for your boyfriend Suitman who will probably come to suck you off to make you feel better).

The Broncos tried him at left centre and when that didn't work out as planned he was moved to the right wing outside Hodges before he got injured. Part of it too is the arm he carries the ball in.

In relation to boxy's quote here:

I only said it was too much if he was going to play centre or wing. Since you don't know where the quote button is (or prefer to accuse others of bullshitting by misquoting them), here it is:

I think it's too much for a winger or centre, so I did think it's too much and therefore not worth it. But if he's coming to play fullback then it's not too much.

you said:

Was a $400k player.

and that the $400k now equals $600k.

Or thereabouts, yes.

The rest of it is irrelevant and I've created no strawman.

You certainly have, and that's why you keep inventing shit instead of directly quoting me. It's not f**king hard.

There is no 50% bump in the cap.

There doesn't need to be. The majority of players will see nil-to-marginal increase in their salaries. The minority on big bucks will see significant increases (e.g. 50%), and that is where the majority of the cap increase will go.

If even ten players have their minimum salaries raised from $55k to $70k, that is only $150k extra out of next year's cap. That leaves $550k for everyone else and I can tell you, this diagram off Mr Wood (lol):

distingraph1.gif

shows that the majority of that $550k will go to a handful of players at each club.

The guys in between minimum salary and the top few will be lucky to see any increase at all.

There will not be in the frame of Israel's contract.

Therefore, you're full of shit, as usual.

Yes Im very surprised about how vocal our club is ATM re Folau. You'd thing we'd be negotiating privately. Whenever something is so public , price and value will always rise. But our coach seems so confident of signing him that he has written a article about it.
It's not a done deal yet... Hope he signs or their will be some very embarrassed people at our club.

yup

seem to be going public as if it's a done deal

nothing is done especially when you look at Folau's past and how he seems to change his mind at the drop of a hat

they'll certainly look like dicks if he goes elsewhere

Sounds like Folau's management have intervened to see if they can squeeze a bit more cash out of the situation.
