here ya go ... you are right and wrong at the same time pou ... right they report total contracts, wrong that he is not reported to be getting 850K (well 900K if you believe this) a year .... just as maroubra said, 2yrs $1.8m - how could anyone doubt maroubra's memory

Hopoate, 19, stunned the NRL when it was revealed the day after the Sea Eagles won the premiership he had signed a two-year deal with the Eels worth $1.8 million. Parramatta, Manly, the Warriors and the Bulldogs chased Hopoate for 2014 after he completes his Mormon missionary service.

I can guarantee you he is not getting that $1.8 mil for 2 years

One thing I have complete confidence in with Nolan is that we will have a well managed salary cap regardless of what we pay certain individual players, so long as he gets to do his job without interference. We have retained most of our promising juniours for a change and we are acquiring some great players in key positions. At the same time we are clearing out players who are not good value for money. I have no doubt at all that our recruitment and salary cap are in good hands.

I agree. Unlike many here I've been very happy with our recruitment. The fact we've missed out on players we targeted shows we won't chase anyone too hard, and the types of players have shown me there's a plan in place.

To be honest, this pursuit of Israel Folau is the first I've seen of us chasing a guy just because he's a big name and he's available. We don't need him, it could f**k our salary cap, and it just looks like a gimmick intended to win an election.

That said, he is a very good player and would be a massive boost to marketing. But unless he's coming to play fullback he's a waste of money. If he is coming to play fullback then Hopoate will possibly be overpaid out in the centres.

Since Nolan has come on board our recruitment has been promising and far better than when Hagan and Anderson were coaching.

I see your point.

I think he's the most important person at the club and very good atr what he does, however even Pete would concede that it was very tough going in the last 6 months of SK's tenure..we just couldnt attract a fly with him as coach in the end.

Wow, I agree with pou.

I'd love to have him but I'd imagine he won't come cheap.

I think it's too much for a winger or centre, so I did think it's too much and therefore not worth it. But if he's coming to play fullback then it's not too much.

I agreed with you about 7 pages, 3 days and 100 or so posts ago when you said it the first time... but then I actually understood what you meant then too.

Bulldogs Are trying to hijack Folau deal. They have come in with a massive MASSIVE offer. They are also after Thurston for 2014.

They need a centre or winger like they need backrowers...... I'd laugh myself silly though if we missed out...... I wonder if it would be Kearney's fault???
