Expect to see flares in Basel when Bayern play like they did in Zürich.

You can't expect British to understand atmosphere though.

Sit down I can't see!

What's the point of going to the game if you want to sit still and be quiet?

Exactly, though to be fair golf-clapping can be very intimidating for the opposition...

One of the PAOK videos you posted which had the entire stadium lit up with flares was amazing but PAOK can be topped:

Serious question for WireMan - why haven't the British adopted the Ultra mentality? Not the go out and fataly stab opposite ultra's but that supporting your club is more than just following a team it's an ideology and a common belief amongst those who always adopt the ultra movement? It's everywhere across Europe but in the UK. Is it because of the hooligan problem and the efforts to stamp it out?

If you just want to watch a game why go to the effort to travel and spend hard earned money just to clap a goal and chant United for a minute then sit back down?

For some reason he's talking about the world wars like it is something to brag about.

You never see the Russian's talking about it like it was a game of football. Many people died on both sides over nothing in both wars.

The guy is an idiot. Read his xenophobia in 4C.

That's f***in' brilliant!

I think Ultras don't exist in the UK because of a combination of over-policing and becuase the fact that most fans just wanna get completely pissed rather than do anything co-ordinated or in sync with each other...

langpark, do the Greeks do anything like this? I present the Kutte. I think it's a heavy metal thing which spawned in to football. Getting mine done, need a few more Anti-Schalke badges though

Its nothing to do with that at all.

Football grew up as a form of escapism from the day to day rigours of working class Britain. You don't want to be told what to do all week only to go to the football and be told what to do again.

Plus there is a more of a rebellious under current (especially in Northern towns and cities) so that if someone said, everybody light a flair now cause it will look dead ace, the fans are more likely to say no.

Now if this happens spontaneously, not only is it more fun, but it feels real. Not some poptastic bit of fakery.
The most they stretch to are those cards you hold up in a made for TV spectacular. Rubbish and lasts for 10 secs till the kids get bored, then they come down again.
Plus fans in the Uk have an imagination so they can make stuff up on the fly. Something some of our European cousins lack.

As for badges on coats etc, in the UK we have sticker books for primary school kids to get it out of there system before they grow up and just end up looking stupid.

Poor Magpie can't see

http://youtu.be/Y22kUCWyEGg
http://youtu.be/diA3D8LpEak <------ LOL it's so f**king quiet you can hear individual conservations

come on, you're being harsh. The gay couple filming plus that nick-nack paddy wack song surely put the fear of God into the Basel players...

PS; we don't do the badges in Greece, banners are big though, even in lower division there could be banners hanging off the edges the whole length of the field...

Yeah, like I said you can't expect the British to understand atmosphere. Don't forget they have to market the league as fan friendly. Nothing nasty allowed.

The badges are fan made and sold at stadiums, or at least they were I think the kutte movement is being drowned out for the new generation of "fan" just like the anti scarves and banners.

Ajax fans, f**king bonkers. Poor Magpie can't see. WireMan wants to read the paper

Let me guess, the British are against exercise as well?
