McMahon disallowed a penalty goal to Easts Dally Messenger despite both touchies raising their flags to signify a goal....with the scores at 6-2 Balmain.

Balmain went on to win 13-4.

If only I had've popped my head in here

I never understood why Easts complained so much, Balmain were above them on the ladder, and would have remained that way even if Easts beat Balmain.
Because the premiership then was given to the team that finished first on the ladder, the result bared absolutuley no significance on who became the premier

Easts would've gone to 22pts, and Balmain 21pts...had Easts won.

As it was with the eventual result:
Balmain 23
Easts ---20
Wests---18
Glebe---18

Take 2 points from Balmain, add 2 to Easts and you see why they complained.
