Ford Advertisement On This Forum

Each time I visit this forum, an advertisement for Ford appears taking up the full screen.

I am not sure if it is something relating to my computer or an something created by the mods.

Given that the Dragons now have Jeep and Alfa Romeo as major sponsors of the Dragons, I believe it is inappropriate for a competitor to be advertised so prominently on this forum.

What are your thoughts?

Take the 2-3 seconds to close the ad via the X in the top right hand corner.:roll::roll:

As per usual Willow has beaten me to the punch.

Get a Hilux if you can afford it. Better all round vehicle, and cheaper to service with Toyota's capped service fees.

My local mechanic raves about Toyota. And his background is working on Mercs.

We have a 2003 Hilux 4wd dual cab diesel with an after-market turbo. It is virtually bullet proof. Wouldn't swap it for anything. (Okay, maybe a Porsche).

its a completely unrelated business to the dragons....QUOTE]

The Front Row Forum :: Rugby League > Rugby League - Australia > St George Illawarra Dragons

Try opening a business using the name ST George Illawarra Dragons in Kograh and see how far you get. Of course this forum is associated by name at least. I am sure it operates with the full blessing of the Club.

So I beg to differ. I am sure most members on this forum believe that this forum is for ST George Illawarra fans and supporters. The subjects on the forum are all about things 'Dragons' and Rugby League.

My point is that our support for the Club/team should also include co-operation and support for the Clubs commercial supporters.

Imagine the Dragons Army sporting a banner for Ford at Win Statium. Would you be happy with that?

So I ask the moderators or who ever is in charge of this, to at least ask Jeep if they want to advertise on the forum; starting date to be at the conclusion of the current arrangement.

you do realise that just because the name of the forum says the same name as the club that doesn't automatically mean they are associated?

Hell, I could change my name by deed poll to 'saint george illawarra dragon' and tattoo my skin red & white but I still would be independent of the club...

And I do have to laugh re: your army banner question.. if a Ford ad is displayed at a home game, that is completely different, given the ground is leased by the club, and therefore falls insert their jurisdiction..

Btw, I think we're all missing the point here. Is the Ford Ranger any good? I really don't know.

I've been a Ford man all my life, but drive a Nissan Navara now - dual cab ute. Having said that, a new work vehicle is due next year so I'll be giving the Ranger a test drive.

Would that be the ALL NEW, AWARD WINNING, 2012 Ford Ranger with the 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine that's available now from your nearest Ford dealer?

By golly, yes!

Hey possm! I agree with this much of what you said.

It IS annoying that this ad takes over the WHOLE Screen.
The banner ads are OK.
They know their place.
And stay there (in the banner).

One poster suggested the ad does not go full screen unless you touch the mouse.
Well I kept my hands away from the mouse and it still went FULL screen.
Then I would close it.

However, as others have said, it is a commercial world.
There is always a price.

I can smile though because my wife is getting an alfa in a coupla weeks (giulietta).

Maybe i will change my avatar to an Alfa!
Or start an Alfa Appreciation thread! ? !
Or drive the alfa into the gates at LU HQ.
:)

until then, X to close.

I was going to go out and buy a ford ranger before this banner appeared and started giving me the shits so I'm buying a Toyota instead.

I come into this Forum a few times a day, every day, at varying times and I've NEVER seen the ad of which possm talks.

Man, what else am I missing out on??

Advertising along the sides is one thing - but I agree - a pop up is annoying and offensive for a forum. Tens of thousands of forums operate without said pop-ups and have done for the last decade+. The gut defense of any profit orientated activity and lambasting of poor possm for voicing his opinion just demonstrates the same subservient money wins all gangbang attitude we see increasingly in Australia and particularly Rugby League these days. I have shown league to a bunch of foreigners and non league-rs and an almost unanimous comment is how much advertising there is. It wreaks of desperation - now the broadcast deal is in do you think it will subside? No way - it will ramp up further and further until they are actually passing mcnuggets around the field.

Wake up you stooges - not all "progress" is a good thing.

I drive an '09 SR5 Hilux. It's done 250,000 km already & I haven't lifted the bonnet once. (touch wood, Murphy's Law etc)

It's the best vehicle I've ever purchased bar none.
Whilst I've heard good reports about the Ranger, nothing will compete with the Hilux.

possm's rant was based on a misunderstanding of the situation and to his credit he has apologised for it.

Someone has to fund the place. User pays? Do you want to pay subscription fees perhaps?

So moderators go unpaid, work ridiculous hours (24 hours a day), yet LU take profits?

I thought this was Australia, the land of the brave & free, not communist Norway?

Is there a Mod Union?

What? lol

I'm curious as to how you uncovered our master plan. It was supposed to be a secret.

I for one am looking forward to seeing these 'tens of thousands' of forums operating without this offensive subservient gangbang attitude culminating in mcnuggets invading our cultural sensibilities.

Talk about picking your battles.
