We had to let go of players to try fit sam in before the start of the year. We were rumoured to be after james roberts for $400k. How much of that was under the cap and how much of that was tpa's we don't know but let's give a best case scenario saying we have that full $400k and spent none of that on upgrading players contracts. So let's sack 6 players well replace 3 of those players with rookies on $85k each. That's $255k of that $400k gone. That means we have about$145k to buy the 3 first graders we need, assuming other clubs release them and the nrl allow us to pay them well under the minimum wage

if you replace 3 players we already have with 3 players on the nrl minimum wage, you aren't using any of that $400,000. you are just using the money that you were already paying to the 3 that you let go

i wouldn't mind if he moved to prop, as long as sometimes when attacking the try line he would go out wide as a wide running second rower to target the smaller weaker defenders

He needs to cut down on the workload or we'll lose him for a long period.

He can still be set up to do damage in the right situations as you say!!

We're watching Sam burn out before our eyes.

For one thing he is playing in the wrong posse & trying to play a game that he can't possibly maintain as a very big man for 80 mins.
He should be playing a much tighter posse at prop, playing less minutes, & showing his two cream-puff bros how to play in the front row!!

Well he has syndesmosis now.

You take 3 players out of your top 25 squad you have to replace them with 3 players to get your squad back upto 25 players. That means they'd have to get upgraded contracts and have to be paid at least $85k which will have to be counted on the cap. Panthers had this problem in 2013 when they couldn't play matt moylan because he was on a second tier contract, tigers went through a similar thing in 2014 with brooks and were only allowed to play him against the dragons after getting special dispensation. If you simply drop 3 of the duds and play 3 lower graders in their place its a lot simpler, but actually releasing/sacking 3 of the duds like shadow suggested isn't feasible.

No one's denying we haven't got enough quality players, but you keep going on about getting rid of these dud players and replace them with superstars, but you still haven't given any plan on how that would happen. That's why no one listens to your dribble
Well shadow didn't say superstars. But shadow what kind of players would you buy??? Give us a few names is what I think Diego means.
diegont i never ever mentioned to buy superstars show me where i said that?you cant!! you have no idea about footy i only read r20 or souths pride or doyen and r95 and a couple of others.i dont read what pommy says he definately has nfi about anything
It's rude to say Diego has no idea about footy. He does have good ideas on here at times. Shadow you can't say someone is being rude to you when you're being rude yourself.
hey diegont ask r20 am i right and the answer is yes once he reads what i said....
You can't be rude to Diego. He is being pretty reasonable and you need to respect him too.
diegont guns or decent backs can be interpreted many different ways but definately ive never said souths should buy some superstars anywhere ever in my posts so your wrong as always...
You're right shadow but Diego isn't always wrong. That's offensive.
Well how do you replace the duds? Give a simple answer
Fair enough question.
1st find me where i said superstars then ile answer your question.....you talk bs thats why you will never find a post by myself as saying we should replace the duds with superstars.why do you talk shiiit???
You are talking bs too shadow actually moreso than Diego in this thread.
So you sack 6 of your duds right now? How do you replace them?
Fair enough.
ask r20 i dont want to talk to stupids

Diego is being reasonable here. You are being childish.

Shadow you sometimes make a rod for your own back.

off load 6 duds and buy 3 1st graders arnt our 6 duds supposed to be 1st graders?by many on here they are lol thatswhy a few on here need to go to specsavers we have cap money left if you think not your wrong...
We don't have much left at all if we have any.

We got Nielsen late in the off season as well which cost us.
Sorry to interject, but he won't say it so I will.

Given the current state of the cap, Souths can't do it as they will probably breach it.
Correct Miller.
souths have cap space left
in my top post I explain.
diegont is trolling

No, he is posting sensibly. You are trolling shadow.

if you release 3 players and the other clubs that they go to are the ones who pay him his money, then that opens up space in the cap to move the 3 players up from lower grades or to sign 3 players from other clubs, if they are only on the nrl minimum wage. you wouldn't need to use that $400,000. if the nrl minimum wage is $85,000 and you let go of 6 players on the minimum wage and bring up 3 players from the lower grades and put them on the nrl minimum wage, then you will have $655,000 to spend on 3 new players, if you add the $400,000

It depends if the club the player is going to wants Souths to pay part of the contract.

This is where it can get complicated.

Correct.

Everything has to go perfectly though. It's not likely.

if we have a player on the minimum wage, there is not much point in letting him go if we have to pay a part of his contract. we shouldn't be paying parts of players contracts to play at other clubs, because once that shit starts, it doesn't stop. it's bad salary cap management.
