if you release 3 players and the other clubs that they go to are the ones who pay him his money, then that opens up space in the cap to move the 3 players up from lower grades or to sign 3 players from other clubs, if they are only on the nrl minimum wage. you wouldn't need to use that $400,000. if the nrl minimum wage is $85,000 and you let go of 6 players on the minimum wage and bring up 3 players from the lower grades and put them on the nrl minimum wage, then you will have $655,000 to spend on 3 new players, if you add the $400,000

Ok I'm gonna stop you after the first line. It's the duds that shadow wants to release, which clubs are going to take tyrell, clark or auva'a off our hands right now and be able to pay them full wage? We'd still be paying those 3 players their full contracts (or close to it) so that still leaves us at $400k..now the 3 players brought up from lower grades into the top 25 now have their contacts counted towards the first tier salary cap. If all those players are in minimum wage then that's another 255k added to our cap. Leaving 145k left

There is actually one team that cleaned out all their duds, mostly by having to pay a percentage of theirs contacts at other clubs, and tried to good down the route suggested, that team was parra and they are now facing the possibility of being excluded from the finals this year because because of it.
