Former Panthers in the NRL

I don't think anyone said Cartwright couldn't turn it on and be a match winner.

I took Franklin's comment to be that Bryce is a low-effort player. He wants to be as good as his natural talent allows - he just doesn't appear to want to work/train hard to really get the best out of himself and earn the respect of his teammates and coaching staff. Very Hayne-esque.

Bryce might have gone to GC thinking he would get an easier ride with Brennan. Getting just a few minutes off the bench seems like Brennan is making a statement that he's not happy with Bryce's efforts.

You mention one game. What about the rest? The key to being an NRL forward is having more then an offload
He won us alot more than one game almost single handedly or was a big part of wins.

Youre trying to rewrite history in suggesting otherwise. There were also plenty of losses where he was one of the only guys who even kept us in the game.

Hardly living off his surname. He delivered in ghe NRL for us plenty of times.

He suggested Bryce was only in first grade because of his name. But he proved himself an NRL player while with us in all of his seasons with us.

It wasnt until he was moved to the halves that his career trajectory changed. A positional change, injuries and off field drama made his 2017 season poor. But he still had a game against Warriors where he was instrumental in getting us the win and ofcourse his game against Manly in the finals.

His worst season with us he was crucial in the game that turned our season around AND the game which put us into week 2 of finals. Remove those efforts and we very well could hsve missed the finals. Or been eliminated earlier.

You really want to do this again?

Bryce covered 5/8 for the TEAM in 2016 initially due to injuries, then the TEAM's form prevented changes.
At the end of 2016 his career trajectory was off the charts signing an upgraded 5 year contract and with Origin in 2017 reportedly a given.

Bryce started 2017 in the 2nd row, got injured and came back into FG at 5/8 given injuries and form of the TEAM. He played only 4 games starting at 5/8 in 2017. Yes, it ended when he got injured/took time off but I'm convinced he was not seen as a long term option there.

In short, Bryce has plenty of ability, natural talent and dominated juniors. With some work ethic, he could likely do similar in FG more regularly/consistently than he has. It appears he may be taking Hayne's approach instead. Maybe Brennan is trying to tell Bryce the same thing.

This is ridiculous. Carty was the reason we made it to week 2 of finals in his second last game with us. He was a key reason for a lot of our wins while he was with us.
That was the only one last year. The only true form is current form. After being hailed as a star, Bryce appears set for a stint in reserve grade. I'm sure he'll come back.

In the game that turned our season around against Warriors he also was a big part of why we won. 2 try assists.

If he doesnt play that game. We dont win znd probably dont go on to make the finald.

If he doesnt play in the finals. We are dliminated week 1.

He had a shocking season. But even in a tertible season was part of why we even had the chance to make week 2 of finals.

Both playing at 5/8.

And both games in 2017 referred to by MX, Bryce was playing 5/8.
He never actually played as a 5/8th though when he played well. He stuck to doing what was natural for him.

His best footy came (like Moylan) when he ignored the number on his back and played what was natural for him. Hybrid position of sorts.

He's a terrible 6.

LOL. Sure MX.

Agree he's not a 6. He's a benchie playing a few minutes a game.

And without that benchie we more than likely wouldnt have been playing week 2 of finals last year.

It's funny how quickly people pile shit onto former Panthers. Yet a current Panther gets a million excuses made for being deadset average.

Unless they're leaving or likely to leave... then they are in limbo and on their way to being shit.

Right now Peachey, Mansour and Cleary are living in that limbo area. If Mansour and Cleary sign elsewhere they will be shit and talked down as having been shit for years. But if they choose to extend they will be superheroes among us.

The only reason he isn't already is because of the difficult position it puts Brennan. He's a relatively expensive, high profile signing, with a close relationship to the coach. But he's a liability to the team.
He appears to have lost any pace (probably, and perhaps permanently because of his ankle), and I don't see him making it.

Brennan had thoughts of him playing lock, which is where a lot of us hoped he'd end, but have you watched Arrow? That's what you need in a footballer. All effort.

Perception is funny MX. Happy for you to sit back remembering how things were. Let the rest of us deal with reality.

Bryce has been judged by his current coach, who was with us the last few years, as worthy of a few minutes game time last night.

Peach is gone. Good luck to him. He had some exceptional form in 2016 but otherwise we seemed to struggle where to play him.

I think we should let Mansour walk. I think we've already seen his best and the impact on the team now will be offset by the metres we're getting from Edwards. Use the Mansour cash elsewhere.

Re Cleary, it looks like you're going into your usual emotional hyperbole. We're all keen to keep him (I think). The debate has been whether Maloney should have more touches following his performance on Thursday night.

As for your reference to your deadset average current Panther, I assume you're continuing your Leota meltdown from the other night.

This. Look at his standing in the team. Training with NSW Cup would encourage me to train harder and work on flaws... Yet he goes to an inferior to play FG every week

Right you are. I had him replacing an injured May - must have been the following week. Apologies.

It's all good. Against Manly I think he replace an unhappy Merrin(who wants to lose game time in a final right.)

Against Broncos he replaced May. Understandable. Nearly won on the back of RCG.
