I hope not. I don't want us paying for players who aren't in our top 30.
Yeah definitely. For this year it doesn’t really matter as they have both been replaced with minimum wage players but going forward they should be off the books.

Disappointed if we are paying anything beyond this year.
Nor do I, but if it means we are better off in the long run, its worth it.I hope not. I don't want us paying for players who aren't in our top 30.

I think you’ll be very disappointed then and I suspect they were being paid more than I had imagined which I find disappointing. Just my gut feelings from what was said in the podcast. It’s worth a listen on many fronts.

Yep this is what it comes down to. Trying to make these decisions would be f**king nightmare really, I don’t envy anyone trying to balance an nrl roster and salary cap.
I now suspect it is probable DWZ was being paid the 600K as suggested by some media pundits which I just find astonishing. I know he is NZ international and highly versatile which increases his value but I would have thought 450-500K absolute maximum would have been a realistic market value.
Someone said he was getting paid as a fullback so maybe the club were going that way until now.
Not the club. Gus, he had total power over all things football.
One thing that did slip out I assume accidentally as the powers that be don’t normally discuss figures was that Brian Too was on the minimum $72,500 which applies to those outside the top 30 normally CC players and he made reference to how cost effective he was in replacing DWZ. I think they also get $3000 match payments for each NRL game. I think this comment was from Brian Fletcher but I stand corrected if I’m wrong. I’m intending to listen to it again to clarify a number of the things discussed.
Well the terms were interchangeable since the club gave him the mandate.
Some on this forum have said DWZ went well at fullback when Ivan was here until a lung issue happened so maybe he has just struggled to get the spark back. Either way I'm happy to hear we have some good prospects coming through and I am a Dylan Edwards fan although he needs to learn to pass haha.
I know I was just being a bit of a smart ass with the Gus thing.
Dylan Edwards fan, you do have a thing for fullbacks Old Panther. Does your missus know about this.
Perhaps. It may also have been an example only too. From my personal perspective we have far bigger issues to worry about that what Hook said on NRL 360.
Season 2019 has been a train wreck in so many ways and I;m not sure the O’Neil, Fletcher & Cleary team have the attributes to get us heading in the right direction.
Hope I’m wrong.

To be honest. I see no different to prior years on field. There is 3 games we lost we should of won. If we won them we'd be top 8 and wouldn't of done the soul search that had too happen
By the same token we could easily have lost a couple of the close one's in our recent run of wins. We are probably placed where we deserve to be and I am not sure we are good enough to win enough games in our run home to sneak into the 8. Glad to be proven wrong though.
