See thats why Hollywood sucks. They make villains into heros and the good guys into villains. Mennie was a good guy. He was only there to get back what he owned. Instead he copped it from the guy that he didnt even have the beef with?? I knew he should have beheaded that little pussy with the girl's name (Paris) instead of stalling. Instead Hector the Erector gave him a stiffy of his own.

Mennie's brother Agamemnon was not the greedy farque the movie made him out to be. He actually convinced the Greek Provinces to unify instead of fight amongst each other.....ok....so it meant his army was 10 times bigger, but they were all happy!!!

tomorrow is the25th - the release of the Lord of the Rings - a great movie - but who the hell sings the song at the end - she is absolutely brilliant...I know she sings in band but what one??

Oz your a good guy, and I'm one of very few who hate that film, its is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. Along with Harry Pothe....sory Potter ;-)

With regards to Troy, I think having to explain to the audience that Achilles was immune to all physical damage save for that tiny portion of skin on his heel that was left unwashed by the 'insert name of famous river/stream here' when his mother dipped him in would have just been confusing.

Likewise, having him die from an arrow to the heel without explaining the above would also be confusing.

It was handled pretty well. I enjoyed the movie, despite its inconsistencies. Realistically neither side would have been considered 'good or evil'. As they say, there is no good or evil in war, that's just decided by the historians of the winning side. If Hittler had won the second World War, we'd be learning about the English tyrants and their American lackeys.

Bored beyond mortal comprehension I went and did some research.

- 'Twas the River Styx he was dipped in. I assumed this, but wasn't sure.
- Apparently his original weakness was simply his pride. If so, they did a pretty good job of showing that in the movie too.

For all the portrayals of ancient Greece and Rome as 'macho' in films, isn't it funny to see how many famous bad-asses were actually gay or bisexual. Alexander the Great, Achilles, Caesar....

Why the nuckleheads in hollywood had to change the orginal story in the first place is beyond comprehension.
