I know this is based on Rugby League but i was reading over at SU (Sports Unlimited) and found a perfect idea to get more teams and more people interested into the F7s and thats by Exapnding to other sports.

Opening F7s to various sports would be a good thing IMO.

12 Subjects one the left pain, perhaps 12 rounds one dedicated to each sport.

easier said than done I know.

Discuss what you think but IMO i reckon its a top idea

super sevens or world series sevens had a good ring Timmah

its just an opinion to try and get others on the forum to get into the idea of forum 7s and if its through the way of writing for different sports i know i would be keen

Keep that one in your hip pocket for the off season review.

I like the thinking outside of the nine dots.

maybe have 3 special rounds out of 8 or something.

Where people can write about...whatever they please...whichever sport they please.

Freakin Brilliant idea

Seriously,

To introduce the idea here at LU I would suggest each team has one player per match who does an "All Sports" article.

So as an example.

Team named

gorilla (c)
Willlow
EA
Mr Angry
Timmah (all sport)

ideas, ideas, ideas.

I think the suggestion Angry made regarding one player per game writes a non league related article is pure brilliance.

That way we are still predominantly writing about League, while still opening our competition to appeal to non league fans.

I like the idea, especially with the overlap cricket often has with League, and obviously Soccer, Rugby Union, AFL, Tennis, etc all running concurrently with the League season.

It's not like the team has to talk about another sport either, but the option to do so and present another sport for critique is interesting none the less.

How bout a wildcard round where the teams can write about any sport? teams have a wild card and must choose wisely on which round to use it. Sort of like Amazing race. Or how bout a road block where one member of each team has to write a specific topic?

Writing about sports in general could take F7's to the next level. The way I see it is, you either have "rugby league F7's" or "sport F7's". No in-between, special rounds, wildcards etc etc. Just all or nothing.

I'm actually not too fond of the idea, but I'm clearly in the minority.

I like having it mostly rugby league, with the option for one article per team to be on any sporting topic.

I’m a fan of this idea, especially if it will attract more interest.

Are there League Unlimited members that are fans of other sports that this idea will entice to play? I’d have thought most were primarily rugby league fans and if ‘rugby league F7s’ didn’t interest them, would ‘all sports F7s’ do it for them?

Worth testing out.

I'd love it, personally. I've been developing a far more potent interest in football (or soccer, as the plebs continue to call it ) and would love an opportunity to mix up my rugby league stuff with football stuff. Would open up a lot more potential articles as well as preventing certain issues from getting too burned out.

You don't want to restrict people to a certain topic. It dulls the creative juices and lowers the quality of the articles, as well as makes it harder for the refs to mark as they're now marking to a harder criteria with more grey area.

The wild card bit is a good idea though.

A suggestion worth considering, as Skinner says when the time comes.

Personally I feel that if it is to go beyond just rugby league and embrace other sports, then perhaps the most sensible place for that might be on SU, from where the idea originally came?

Hard choice between losing the original rugby league intention and expanding to other sports for more interest within a rugby league forum, or starting a general sports one over at SU, seeing how that goes first, and planning for some cross over of the two somehow at a later date.

Bartman as i relised when i started F7s is based on Rugby League however over at SU where i found the idea that Mr Angary started there wassnt enough people over at SU to make this reiable

Twizzle said the same thing over at SU

However if your sugesting we all sign up to SU and run this sports one there well thats a good idea also :D

That's what I was thinking ;-). A general sports one, shortened comp could be run there including interest from here, to see if it's got legs. And then a special round or an invitational all sports rep round with the LU league F7s mid season to whet the appetite, and then see if the combo idea could be embraced with success the year after?

Anyway, best left to everyone's combined thought power in the off-season.
