Four Broncos cleared of sex assault allegations

Yeah what evidence, they went off early before even interviewing the alleged victim.

Good point.

Laying charges should be a relatively simple process. It is in court that it is decided whether or not they are guilty.

The police have interviewed the victim, they've interviewed the players. There may be physical evidence but that would take 3-4 days MAXIMUM to obtain. This bullsh*t about it taking 'weeks' is ridiculous.

If charges are not laid or they are not completely cleared by the end of this week, something strange is going on.

It is now in their back yard and I hear very few singing the same chorus line.

Please don't jump to conclusions, mate.

Literally one or two posters on LU doesn't make a fanbase.

There are plenty of us who are particulary disturbed that the 3 under investigation will be playing this weeked.

Well the difference in the level of noise, comparative to other incidents at other clubs is astounding.

I do have one message for the Brisbane Bronco board

The saddest thing is the calls from Bronc fans when coffs, carney etc, where liud and clear. It is now in their back yard and I hear very few singing the same chorus line. To me that says all that needs to be said about the fans.

you wouldn't be referring to Chucky?

One has been accused and charged by the police. That is why he was stood down. There's a difference here and I'm quite sure you've missed it so I'll lay it out for you:

* Bird - has been charged with grievous bodily harm. He will stand trial and faces jail if convicted.

* 3 Broncos - have had a complaint made against them and are under investigation. No charges have been laid.

Your stupidity knows no bounds.

And what were the Broncos having a big cry about before Bird was charged? That the Sharks should suspend him.

I repeat, they can't have it both ways.

The club needs to take a firm hand, easier said than done. I did notice they punted the "lesser known" players without hesitation (lacey et al). These players (Boyd, Hunt, Thaiday) are much, much bigger names and the club is shutting up shop. If they do not take immediate action, before this weeks game (lets hope as rugby league supporters they do), however if they do not their image will be tarnished forever, they know and it and so do we.

If these players are charged - in that Police find sufficient evidence and reason to charge these players, I will want them sacked and de-registered. As it stands now I won't enjoy watching them play on Saturday.

With regard to Lacey and Te Reo - that was easy - they were charged.

It's just absolutely pathetic how Sharks fans and others are trying to compare this incident at this stage to Greg Bird's.

Please provide a link to quotes from anyone associated with the Brisbane Broncos calling for Greg Bird to be suspended before he was charged by police.

You are right IMO Frank. This is a completely different set of circumstances than the Bird incident. If these guys are charged they should be stood down and if convicted they should be GONE.

The only concern I have as a Rugby League fan and a member of teh community is that if these three were brickies not NRL stars, I would suggest the QLD Police activities in determining if charges should be laid would be considerably swifter.

Having said that, until they do determine the position, it doesnt matter what any of us think as it wont change a thing.

News Ltd journalists writing editortials in the paper saying that he should be suspended until he is cleared, and they mentioned that is the action that the Broncos would take. The Broncos did not come out and say that is incorrect and would let the player play until other action was taken.

As Dan Kock says

Enforcing a zero-tolerance policy was easy when it meant axing fringe players like Brett Seymour, John Te Reo, Ian Lacey and even Neville Costigan

Maybe I don't spend anywhere near as much time as you do at this place, but I didn't notice much outcry at all from Brisbane fans when it came to the Carney and Bird incidents.

So you've got no quotes from anyone associated with the Brisbane Broncos calling for Greg Bird to be suspended before criminal charges were laid?

Glad we could clear that up.

So it's the Broncos responsibility to come forward and refute any claims made by random journalists?

p.s. I see what you did with author's name there. Would that be the first joke you've ever attempted on these forums? Because your inexperience is showing.

Listen to tallback radio, read letters to the editor, the CM daily poll, etc.

So you've got no quotes from anyone associated with the Brisbane Broncos calling for Greg Bird to be suspended before criminal charges were laid?

Them remaining silent is a quote enough. Many times in the past, they've come out and refuted claims made in newspapers within hours of going to print about their club - newspapers in another city. This time, not a word. Shows you that they wanted the public to believe that.

I too would like to see this "proportionately larger" outcry regarding other clubs incidents from Brisbane fans on these boards.

They do about other matters, so they've shown that is what they do. They didn't this time.

And it's not a random journalist. It's a journalist who works for the Broncos parent company.
