You have a right to voice your opinion not tell me anything.

If you think Anasta has performed anything above ordinary at SOO level in his many chances..

I thought he did well considering the lack of quality 6's that were around at the time...

I agree, mainly because Greg Bird isnt what you would call a text book five eight, but still very good and effective. I think Anasta got picked ahead of him because he has a great kicking game (better then Birds) and also had Origin experience, Jarrad Mullen needed that kind of player next to him, not another newbie like Bird.

Now because Bird has a Origin and test matches under his belt, it might be good timing to start with Bird at five eight and Orford at half and maybe later in the match bring Carney on as a five eight and push Bird into lock. I hate changing halves pairings during a match but Carney needs to be pushed for Origin.

Craig Wing and Peter Wallace could be suprizes for a halfback push. As far as im concerned, aslong as Bird is at five eigth, the half will feel alot "safer" with a form player next to him. (assuming he is in form, and he looks like the kind of player that comes alive for an Origin match)

Each to their own.. I remember early in the year the goose was claiming he was going to OWN the Rorterville no. 13 jersey..

Michael Monaghan
Craig Gower
Kurt Gidley

In my opinion all better players than Anasta and all can play multi positions including 5/8. If Gasnier wasn't hurt he would be a certainty at 5/8 for NSW.

Ignore the hype created by Phil Gould and Brad Fittler in the media, compare his statistics and watch a few of his games. I did. He is deserving of the 4 most over-rated tags he received from his opposition players. Nothing special at club level either.

I thought he was ordinary in all his SOO appearances and can't see him getting a spot in the NSW side in the future unless someone is injured. Like I said before- if he gets picked I assume it's rigged as he isn't the best option we have there.

I think Brath plays his better football when he is not the main play maker. He was in both origin matches this year, although Kimmorley played awsome in game 2. I was watching some old Anasta matches last night and I realised that he dosent seem to find space anymore. Once he sees a hole, he is very good at taking it, but only when the half gets him the ball at the right time. I dont know what has changed, it may be because defence is better then it wat 3 years ago, but it may be because he is now the dominant half in virtually all the teams he is in.

Methinks if you swapped Cwaig Pings name with Bwaiff Bannastas youd make sense mate.:p

it would help more if they asked Freddy to throw on the no.6 jersey, we'd be right then.. heaven help us if Anasta is put there again.
True, Anasta can concentrate on carving the Bunnies as he has been doing so successfully of late.

You need to read. I stated in the opening post I agree with the idea. I also stated it would be more beneficial to have Fittler playing instead of seeing Anasta the proven failure at SOO given another chance.

I also highlight how when Ricky Stuart took over at the Roosters, the club, it's fans, Gould and Politis all praised him as a Super Coach.. Fittler is already considered a saviour by the CEO who claims they'll have a premiership within 2 seasons, maybe if he keeps buying 2 Australian rep players off contract each season. Any favourable result will have nothing to do with Freddy Fingers coaching then.
I don't recall Gould ever hailing Stuart as a supercoach. If anything he often questioned his methods and tactics hence their ongoing rift.

 Words from a fan of course. God bless ya!

Only two players hurt us last season and neither are with your club now.

Craig Wing and Joel Monaghan.

The only hurt Anasta did to Souths was to Fa'alogo's fist, when he put his mouth too close.

I'm sorry...but i can't help feeling that your opinion is clouded at your hatred for a particular club. the fact remains that at the time he deserved to be picked and I definitely didn't think he was difference between the series being won or lost.

How did the blues go when Gasnier was playing 5/8 ? Gasnier plays his best football in the centres and thats where he should stay.

Personally I don't believe in the whole 'over-rated tag'. There was no hype created by gould or fittler to what your saying. Anasta's football did the talking on the field the whole season, especially in the last 8 weeks. He was head and shoulders above any other player at our club. Problem with anderson was anasta was meant to be our lock and thats where he trained the whole off-season, but was suddenly brought back to the halves in round 2.

Gasnier didn't play 5/8 as he was gone all year.

I believe in the "over-rated" tag. Some players get talked up by their mates in the media but the players who oppose them on the weekends are the best judges of your ability.

Seriously if anyone tries to tell me Anasta has ever played well in a Blues jersey even before, I'd have to be suspicious of your knowledge of the game. The only headache QLD got from anything to do with Anasta was the loud cheers from Gus and Freddy with their pom poms on the side line.

Did nothing. Last year, year before and year before.. even with Trent Barrett gone he couldn't cement the no.6 and now it cannot be disputed that Greg Bird has over taken him as first choice NSW no.6.

It has nothing to do with me a Red and Green fan. He has under performed every time he has been given a NSW jersey.

It has nothing to do with that team he plays for.

I have the same opinion of Nathan Hindmarsh at SOO level.

Yes I know gasnier was out all yr, I was making reference to the previous yr where he did play alongside Gower. Did Gasnier do any better? imo no. He doesn't belong there.

Anasta doesn't get talked by his mates. Anasta came onto the scene when he was quite young and was labelled the next freddy fittler by the media. He didn't live up to there expectations and suddenly he came over-rated. Did anasta ever come out and talk himself up ? NO. Like I said the whole over-rated tag is stupid. I don't understand how guys in the past like wing and fittler got it either.

Game 1 this yr, anasta played alright, wasn't terrible but wasn't great either, game 2 he got injured. Bird played quite good and I think he will get it next yr. Anasta football went to another level when fittler came in and that made a huge difference against teams like Melbourne, which at one stage the roosters held them to 20nil.

Anastas a very good player, one of the better palyers running around...the over rated tag is used by sheep following sheep.

I don't think current NRL players running around are sheep following sheep. They have no idea who voted for who, they just give their opinion. I'll take the word of players who play against him over his coach or his mate commentating any day.

I agree- the media hypes these players up to be something they aren't. It's not like he is doing it.

I won't knock him winning your clubs Best and Fairest, I only watched a handful of his games for the Roosters so I can't comment. I did watch him in all his SOO appearances though and don't think he deserves to be chosen on his performances.
