Furious Warriors sponsor launches attack

There is just something hilarious about the Warriors talking up their new found resillience for 9 weeks and then having the mother of all sooks by Round 10.
The warriors aren’t having a sook lol. This guy is a sponsor who is a massive fan. He isnt affiliated with the running of the club.

it’s actually the opposite. Watch Webster press conferences where he is baited and he refuses to blame the refs.

Like it or not the public perception is it's the Warriors. This isn't a random fan - it's the CEO of their major sponsor for the past 25 years.

Anybody genuine that watches a lot of NRL will tell you that there're certain teams who are up against it before they start because they get a worse rub of the green than others on average, and the refs have totally lacked any accountability for

The officials are so scared of making a mistake and being criticised you often find that the run of penalties and calls go to the side that was expected to win so that there are less questions in the end, where in reality a lot of calls are costly. Can guarantee that the calls in the Warriors game would have been different if they weren’t playing the defending premiers. Same thing happened to the Knights when they played Penrith.

I knew a senior well respected country Ref who reffed from the 70s to the mid 90s ..lol won’t say where .
Was a character …but onfield no nonsense at all .
was selected to Ref a game at lang park( could have been SOO selection ..or country v city ..can’t remember )
But was an important game.
He told me before the game in strolled the officials & laid it out …This is how you are going to ref the game & proceeded to tell him exactly what he should do.
He burred up ..told them .why the f**k did you get me down here if you don’t want me to do my job & told them .I’ll ref it as I see it ..no bias .
Lol was his last big game ever besides Local GFs.
things might be different now but there would still be some element of this happening.
Id bet there’s plenty of discussions on players ..teams etc…& that makes it very hard to go out there without looking for what was talked about.

I'll tell you what one of my referees coaches told me in the mid-1990s (he was a retired First Grade Touch Judge and was involved in coaching the NSWRL and ARL Grade squad at the time) about what we did in juniors and what they did in first grade "don't worry about what they do down town, that's entertainment".

So why are you fueling that public perception with something you know to be wrong?
I'm just having a laugh at the circumstances. I was enjoying the Warriors turnaround under Webster.

League fans on a site like this understand the separation of a CEO of a club's sponsor so I'm not fueling anything. News outlets like Stuff and Fox will try and muddy that separation as much as possible for a headline.

Lets not be naive. Paris is getting free exposure to his telco, wearing One Nz logos on his jacket to tv interviews rather than a normal suit. Its not all about grievances with refs

Yes, the CEO of the biggest mobile phone carrier in NZ needs some exposure....

Can you provide some links to all the TV interviews he has undertaken this week?

The NRL don’t help themselves with the whole bias argument…

Yesterday, Adam Reynolds face plants and knocks himself out to the point he’s stretchered off, yet they put it as Cat 2, so he doesn’t automatically miss next week.

Walsh commits a blatant shoulder charge (that he is then charged for) to prevent a try, but despite it going to the video ref, it’s not picked up on.

Carrigan commits ANOTHER hip drop (though I suspect this one was accidental), exactly the same as others that have been charged (Nikora, Finucane), yet he gets no charge….

Those 3 above are not even unconscious bias, it’s bloody blatant!

Jason Paris for PM. I am so happy he has come out to put these clowns on notice. Not just for the Warriors but for the whole competition. Graham An(al)sley can suck it up and start being more proactive with his officials rather than reactive.

Wait a second, so the NRL admits that carrigan was incorrectly sin binned for a tackle by the bunker and this is an example of bias against the warriors?

That’s the thing, I don’t think it should be a penalty, let alone a charge, but the fact is, other players have missed games for very similar.

Also, you didn’t share your view on the other 2 incidents?

And it’s not about bias against the Warriors per se, it’s that certain clubs get favourable treatment, across the board.
