No chance they have it on an oval shaped ground
It's not ideal but the ability to sell an additional 20k seats will probably swing it somewhat. I've sat in the MCG's nosebleeds for Origin, honestly no worse than the top deck at Accor. Both are ordinary, miles from the action.

They only need it to hold 70k.

It is on TV too. Just a shocking look with the crowd so far away.
The whole package is poor

Agreed

accor is way better for rectangular sports than the mcg
If they can sell 100k tickets at mcg they’d be daft not to use it. That’s a $4mill difference To Accor. Same reason it won’t be at optus despite it being the best quality stadium.
depends which state bids most to host it as well I suppose. A roof on Accor could swing it though you’d think.

Being further away from a union game is a bonus Id have thought lol

2003 they didn't why they now?

Especially the huge jump from the amazing stadiums the comp will use.

It’s a major event, it’ll sell out wherever its held. all about the revenue. End of day it’s tickets, corporates plus hosting fee. Whichever adds up most will likely get it.

That is why it is worth more to Melbourne/Vic govt - half the crowd will travel from interstate. Have it in Sydney and most of the crowd is local, hence not spending on hotels/restaurants, etc. SO Vic gov will pay up. MCG sounds confident - they said they will delay the knock/down rebuild of the Shane Warne stand until after the 2027 WC.
Also, the main reason it will be at the MCG is that the Australian RU keeps all gate receipts/corporate revenue from match day, and World Rugby keeps all broadcast revenue. So, 17k fans plus around double the corporate facilities of Homebush will be hard to resist.

See above, whichever adds up to most $’s will likely host. I’d imagine nsw govt will go hard for it but they didn’t care about the RLWC so maybe not?

In 2003 the MCG was being renovated and had a reduced capacity, the 2003 AFL GF got less than 80k.

Having said that, I don't see any way that RA wouldn't have the final in Sydney.

If it was that simple every Rugby WC would be at 100k stadiums.
did you miss the bit about it being more than just ticket Amount? Also about corporate sales and hosting fee.
But it’ll all come down to total money to be made, whichever city/venue offers the most money will host it. That’s the simple bit lol.

That will have been nearly a 1/4 of a century ago by the time the 2027 final comes around , & in that time the chorus of criticism & disapproval for homebush has reached new heights , its not a word class venue , it just isn't

While the MCG isn't either for rectangle sports , it is a world class venue generally speaking & is a genuine threat with its 100K capacity to accor in its present state.
