There's a real risk of event fatigue in Non RL cities though, and for fans who like to use it as an excuse to visit another city for a short break. I could see that working in Brisbane but not in Adelaide, Perth or Melbourne. Maybe 2 years in Brisbane, 1 year in other city, 2 years in Sydney,1 year in other city, repeat, presuming those cities are willing to stump up the cash to host. Gives enough gap to not get that fatigue and drives competitive bidding.

International season? lol

Just playing devil’s advocate here but the problem Perth has with potential grand finals is the cost of airfares. Unless that is alleviated then the Grand Final would become too costly for most. Adelaide don’t have the facilities (at the moment)

Brisbane and Melbourne could or would work though.

the public tide ?
hahaha

200 toff & fumbleball halfwits commenting are not the public tide , they're a pack of jealous f**kwits who hate our sport
f**k them & their braindead hypocrisy

While Vlandys continues his narrative that our sport has been wronged & double crossed like it has time & time again by this govt & other ones , & it absolutely has, the mud he is throwing will stick.

The NSW Govt are agreement welching scum , keep banging on about this
& when Sydney's NRL fans are watching their GF on TV rather then attending it ... the focus & heat will be on the politicians who reneged , not Vlandys
It was probably Peter fitzstupid voting himself under multiple accounts

25K flew into Perth for the origin without blinking meaning we'd only need another 35K locals to fill the rest of the stadium. For big.. rare.. events
people will dip deep

Sydney doesn’t need the grand final the sport is already massive here

but it will help the game grow in every other market

the arlc could also ask for stuff like bidding cities have grand final parades or week long fan events

Hopefully. It is expensive though but for example if my team the Raiders were to make it and knowing that they haven’t had too much success over the last 20 odd years, then I probably would.

So the NRL should set up a fund to do up grounds which are owned by either:

1. Their respective State Governments;
2. Their local council; or
3. Privately owned by one club (i.e. The Sharks).

I mean when do lessees usually pay for upgrades directly for properties they lease? Almost never.

Sorry but that is a daft idea and defies commercial sense.
Easts Tigers lease Langlands Park and are currently upgrading its facilities.

Nrl won’t care about airfare prices. only what they can get in payment.
Perth fans have to pay it in other sports for gfs held in the east. Sure it’s not cheap as it’s close to date and qantas will price gouge something horrible.

Try reading the nrl social media feeds. Hardly anyone is backing vlandys on this one, rl fan or not.

what will stick long in the memory of the liberal party is the way the nrl chairman is behaving. Good luck in future funding for the game in nsw!

Nrl made a big surplus last year so by 2023 and the new tv deal should have plenty of surplus, add in the sale of gfs and surely it’s time for them to stop begging and start investing?
Build a stadium for dogs, tigers and Aleague and have a $300mill asset on the books Plus ongoing revenue. Makes more sense than buying hotels.

rubbish
Ive read the comments , all masquerading as RL fans who are anything but ....
Our code has a long history of being up for the fight & taking on arrogant scum like the NSW liberal party & any other govt that wants to behave like sleazy snake oil salesmen & renege on agreements written or handshake with us. Our code in this country was built on the principles of not being taken for fools by anyone & we finally have a fighter leading our game after decades of having whimps in charge who bowed down to govts in NSW & didn't want to rock the boat & bent over & took what ever was dished up.
Not anymore ...

Honour the agreement peritot you four eyed wanker

Other than it’s size, what is so great about the MCG? I was last there in 2018 and the queues for a beer was terrible and you had to watch the big screen when play was down the other end

No but potential sponsors do, not an easy logistical exercise

As predicted this year will stay in Sydney, Right decision allows it to go to tender next year.

NSW State Election is March 25th next year. Call for tenders for 2023 Grand Final one month before polling day and force both sides to go public with what they’ll do to “save Sydney’s big day”. Nothing more needs be done before election day other than a couple prominent meetings over coffee inter-state for ARLC members. That and the pre-season. And the season launch. And the opening round.
