Coz regular matches draw less at homebush & parra
Bulldogs got over 19k against Souths in round 18. Belmore would have had to lock fans out because it doesn't have the capacity

But Al says! lol.
The proof of the pudding and all that, less fans attend suburban grounds, you really don't need any further evidence.

Are you saying AFL clubs would have got more than this years 30.8k avg if they had stayed in their run down suburban ovals? Seriously?? Both Perth clubs have seen a 30% jump in crowds moving to the state of the art Optus stadium. This year 30k, 2019 32k, 2010 36k...f'n liars

Yes Al should be running things. Won't someone think of the children?!Wants survey. Gets surveys. Still crying. NRL should listen to fans

Belmore would've soldout
Haha you are moving the goalposts. You said They were doing better before? Before what?
If you are making a point about centralised stadia not working then you have to make a comparison between when it has been available and when it hasn’t been available. Have their crowds not increased post 1997?
When did Perth have suburban grounds?! Not in the afl. That drop must be Melbourne clubs missing local grounds..but I thought fancy grounds simply attract more fans?!
They dropping.
Subiaco was 20 years past its sell by date. Moving to a bigger improved stadium saw a 30% jump in attendance. That's what happens when you give customers what they want. When did Perth have suburban grounds?! Not in the afl. There are some sydney clubs in NRL that are small fanbases (Sharks and Manly) and likely will always be small fanbases. They are the ones that ideally would get $150-200mil spent on their local stadia to get it to something like modern 20-25k standard. Then we have clubs like Tigers, Bulldogs, Dragons, Penrith that have the potential to go over that 20k avg in modern 30k venues.
The problem is that no-one has the money they are willing to spend on 6 or 7 more Sydney venues. So regardless if you feel suburban tart ups or new modern stadia are the answer the Govt isnt going to fund 6 or 7 more improvements. Not to mention the need to bring Accor up to standard for major events. And tbh I dont blame them.
NRL clubs in Sydney now have 2 state of the art stadiums they can use if they choose. If they choose not to that's on them. I get the sense in 10 years some clubs will have been left well behind, even more so than now as they refuse to face a reality of their situation and will cling to Vlandys dream that everyone gets a local ground and Al's dated belief that kids running on the pitch after a game is the most important thing.
Haha you said the same thing 10 years ago. Suburban grounds will always be part of the NRL, whether you like it or not. No club is going to fall over or relocate. The grounds we have now are the same grounds we will be using in 10 years time. The only way forward is to improve them as best we can.NRL clubs in Sydney now have 2 state of the art stadiums they can use if they choose. If they choose not to that's on them. It’s usually our lowest crowd of the year. They really should schedule it early or late in the season. No one wants to go there in the middle of winter. The guy claimed that 1 game at Belmore is a big enough sample size to claim it gets the Bulldogs biggest crowds. Best to just ignore him
Doesn't have to be. Like I said with what we have now and penrith planned it literally only leaves Sharks and Manly with little option but to keep playing out of their dumps and try and find a way to get them improved. If the other clubs with options choose to stay stuck in the past that's on them. Hopefully other clubs will get so far ahead they have no option but to change in the future.Haha you said the same thing 10 years ago. That's reality, get over it.

We're already seeing movement with Souths wanting to play at Allianz. With the dawning realization that these suburban grounds are not going to be improved other clubs may finally start to wake up to what the future needs to be.
So Penrith average is higher than Commbank, but don’t deserve a redevelopment because they only have one tenant as they are an NRL city!Comparison of new/modern/big stadiums v suburban/small/old stadiums this season that have had more than 1 game at them
