Yes a world cup of sorts and in name only was held in 1954 where only 4 teams participated in it - France/Great Britain/Australia/New Zealand.

France have well and truly fallen away as far as League goes at an International Level and England will be lucky to win another Major Comp in League - Bit like in Football (1966)

It is manufactured though - Great Britain split up into England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland plus add Rugby Union mad nations such as Tonga , Samoa , Fiji and even Cook Islands with a population of 17k plays in it.

I didn't even know Greece and Jamaica played league and well one can say judging by the results neither did they.

Maybe later on they can have North and South New Zealand as separate teams to increase the numbers.

The only country in the World where League is a national sport is PNG.

I think people are kidding themselves in thinking there is some sort of Rugby League Renaissance at the International level though.
So wait

england are declining in league

yet it’s also the same country where soccer is strongest in the world and they haven’t won the whole cup in almost 60 years

somethings not adding up here lol

maybe soccer is dieing in England too by your curious logic

I’d like a dollar for every time Singapore is mentioned in this thread .
I can picture it now. Broncos v Souths for the historic event of rugby league over water at #MarinaBay.

images

Panthers fans frothing because they weren't invited while Vossy makes reference to that Tallis tackle on Hodgson when Alex Johnson gets thrown over touch and into the water.
Highlights will be post try celebrations of players making gang signs while somersaulting into the water while the crowd watches on confused, with crowd shots of some asian women pointing and giggling.
After the game the players go to the post match event at the casino and finish off the tour with a rooftop pool scandal reported by none other than Buzz Rothfield, capped off by a PVL puff piece claiming it a resounding success with promise of a return next year. #NRL@Singapore

why watch it when it’s such a low standard

you’ve literally got the premier league where clubs are worth 5 billion pounds and you have a league where the clubs are worth basically nothing
Using your logic all rugby league fans from Sydney should stop supporting the poor and weak brands from their city and become fans of the Broncos and Cowboys. No club draws more money from sponsorship, corporate hospitality, ticketing, membership and merchandise than the Broncos and Cowboys.

If it wasn't for the mentally ill Centrelink recipients wasting their benefits on the pokies at Leagues Clubs then many of the Sydney teams would be dead.

difference between fumbling and the NFL, EPL etc. is that they have lots of high drawing games in Melbourne with two equally-sized groups of supporters there. Should be asterisked really. Imagine the EPL average if every game between two London clubs was at Wembley.

The NRL has nine teams in Sydney that draw less than 20k when they play one another unless the game is held on a public holiday.

WTF should the tax payer build nine stadia in Sydney at $300m per ground when so few people go to the games?

The EPL is the top Football comp to play in by far and it is not declining any time soon.

Of the 25 player EPL squad's - A maximum of 17 can be non home grown players and 8 Home grown players.

EPL clubs want success each season so would rather buy game ready players from anywhere they can to achieve this rather than take the time to develop local home grown players.

If a club is relegated from the EPL it could take a long time if ever for them to be promoted back to the EPL so the stakes are high.

So it can be difficult for home grown players to get game time ahead of the highly paid overseas professionals as a result which is detrimental to the English National Team as the Local players are not being developed to the required level as a player.

There are 371 Non English players that play in the EPL - 66% of players

I have never advocated for taxpayers to fund nine stadiums. Some ground sharing is inevitable in Sydney (I think Tigers should go to Commbank), but the way it's done in Melbourne is a laughable freak show.
Tigers, Bulldogs, Panthers and Eels should be based out of Parramatta Stadium.

Roosters, Sharks, Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs should be based out of SFS. Dragons should play four games there each year.

First - why should Penrith play in a stadium 40 km away?
Second - the grounds would never cope with 4 clubs playing out of them

I think people should only support branding and corporate spending

The NRL shouldn’t have any Queensland teams in it.

All that state does is hijack every expansion debate away from your Perths and Adelaides of the world to endlessly campaign for more teams for their overrated, overstated, disaffected, low iq and mediocrely economic dividend producing league fanbase. The equivalent to trying to get with Sofia Vergara and having Caitlin Jenner cockblock you instead. Literally.

You shift the goal posts so much you forget which way is up

I really don’t know what the relevance was of trying to explain promotion and relegation and all the other guff though but maybe someone else will enjoy reading that

anyways last time England won a soccer World Cup was 66 but who knows maybe this time they will break the drought in 2066

1. Penrith Football Stadium to Parramatta Stadium is 32km.

Dolphin Oval to Lang Park is 33km.

If the Dolphins are expected to travel 33km to play at Lang Park then there's no reason Panthers cannot be held to the same standard.

Or do you believe there should be one rule for Sydney and another rule for Brisbane?

2. MCG and Docklands cope just fine accommodating eight AwFuL clubs.

I wish they would make their comp instead of trying to dissolve ours.

Since when does anybody ‘own’ a competition?. In any case, the answer is grey - all teams need to kind of move with the times so to speak

A second Brisbane side should play all their games at Lang Park because it is a world class stadium and it is the only suitable one in Brisbane and that goes with wherever they are based in Brisbane. The same goes with Sydney sides - they should be playing at decent stadiums.

If you can't understand that well there is no use discussing it any further 🙄

By "ours" I meant NSW. I didn't see any Sydney clubs trying to join a QLD competition. Anyway what's done is done I guess.
Agree with your point about the best competition playing in the best stadiums. In Sydney and surrounding suburbs it simply won't happen. There is no way every club would agree to play home and away rounds in the same stadium. The league clubs would lose so much revenue by missing out on gameday events and we all know league clubs/football clubs only have their own interests at heart. They would never agree to anything for a common good because you can guarantee one of the clubs would benefit more from it than another.
In principle it would be great but it wouldn't be practical for some clubs.
