Depends on how much money they get just from the Destination NSW funding against what money they'd have gotten thru the gate from ticket sales for the "home" team hosting the GF.

The past few year's attendances -

2022 Grand Final - 22,495 (AAMI Park, Melb City v Melb Victory)
2021 Grand Final - 14,107 (AAMI Park, Melb City v Sydney FC)
2020 Grand Final - 7,051 (BankWest Stadium, Sydney FC v Melb City)
2019 Grand Final - 56,371 (Optus Stadium, Perth Glory v Sydney FC)
2018 Grand Final - 29,410 (McDonald Jones Stadium, Newc. Jets v Melb Victory
2017 Grand Final - 41,546 (Allianz Stadium, Sydney FC v Melb. Victory)
2016 Grand Final - 50,119 (Adelaide Oval, Adel. Utd v West. Syd. Wanderers)
2015 Grand Final - 29,843 (AAMI Park, Melb Victory v Sydney FC).
I am more thinking about having 1k - 3k like last year‘s match up would have had In Sydney and how demoralising that would be for clubs, fans and the sport. It is also unfair for Sydney to have home advantage if they make a GF. For $3.3m a year, they risk losing a lot.
And why would NSW govt do this? If a Sydney team is hosting they would have the game anyway. If no Sydney teams involved the game will run at a huge loss. It only works for them if a Sydney team is the away team.

Reports seem to vary a lot on how much is being paid. if it’s $6.6mill a year as some have reported it’d be worth it with a 15-20k crowd.

I hope a close eye is cast on the officiating of all games involving Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers. The game will need one of these teams to make the GF to pull a big crowd. Any hint of bias will damage the A-League's small fanbase.

I had to give up on page 1250 of this thread, way too much talk about soccer, this is a RL stadiums thread and soccer is shit anyway, f**k the Socceroos, they and the a-league can follow the wallabies and super rugby into obscurity for all I care.

Ruby League needs to set its own course and make things happen for itself, not just in regards to stadiums, but in terms of growth in all aspects of the game not wait for other sports to host big events so we can piggy back of it.

Fans from clubs in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne walked out of games at the 20th minute in protest against the APL selling the A-League GF to Sydney for the next three years. In Melbourne the fans ran onto the pitch and injured a goal keeper by hitting him over the head with a steel bucket. He needed stitches. Our game is doomed due to its Sydney-centric attitude. God knows why APL agreed to kill their sport by hosting the next three GFs in Sydney.

The problem with what happen yesterday is that we will now see cages at venues introduced to protect the players like in Europe

And that will effect RL not just soccer

No I don’t believe this will happen at all. I think you will find anyone who goes to A league games will be close to strip searched though.

Just cage the areas the active supporters are and put a heavy police presence around it … all paid for by the soccer bosses

There hasn't been cages since Hillsborough in the 80s in the UK, and I can't recall seeing any in the major European leagues.

we are doomed i tell ya

I'm yet to see you make a post that's relevant to rugby league. All you do is join in on the circle jerk with the knuckle dragging morons who are livid because I use facts to prove the NSWRL clubs are small and irrelevant liabilities holding our game back. None of the traditional NSWRL fans are able to counter argue my points because the statistics speak for themselves. They just shift the direction of the discussion to baseless personal attacks because they know I'm right. It's why I've got them in ignore.

Do I need to put you on ignore?

Yeah, after a handful of deadly crowd crushes across world you don't really see proper cages being used anymore, Hillsborough being the most famous as you said.

You do see netting and high fencing used in places that have serious crowd issues though (much more serious than any we've seen in Australia mind you). The netting stops projectiles and higher fences make pitch invasions significantly harder.

I imagine that it'd be quite expensive to install fences at most grounds in Australia, but I guess that it isn't impossible that they might look into installing netting in some grounds if they can find an affordable portable option. Netting almost certainly would have been enough to stop the incident yesterday.
