This egotistical wombat in charge of the ACT govt needs to understand , that Canberra is the federal seat of govt & should be a city all Australians are proud of & he is directly responsible for any neglect in how it is viewed by Australians or overseas visitors & dignitaries

The Stadium debate is symptomatic of his incompetence & pig headiness & when someone else is prepared to essentially finance the project & he is still not listening & treating the national capital like some personal possession
then as I said
its time to move this clown along ...

The fact of the matter, whether you think it's a shithole, paradise or something in between, is that Canberra is Australia's Capital. To have a dilapidated stadium in the national capital of a developed nation which sits in the top 15 nations re GDP is a shame job.
We're about to be overtaken by Christchurch & Hobart , we've already been overtaken by the Dunedin , the Gold Coast & Townsville & add that venue on the Sunshine coast too

its a national disgrace ...

I'm still not confident at all of anything more than token changes.

They're still in the process of installing the new big screen and new TV's at all the bars around Bruce. The pig is currently having her lipstick applied.

I have to wonder how much of Barr's continual dismissive attitude towards the stadium is so that when he eventually announces it for EPIC or Bruce that people will be so relieved that something is happening they won't blow up that it's not in Civic.

The NRL must have locked in deals for their key major events over the next few years to feel comfortable enough to write that submission.

Canberra was always a safe fallback option to get government funding for anything that NSW or Queensland were unwilling to bid for (or offer much), so the NRL never really liked rocking the boat in the past.

Nice to see that change, as it's crazy that a city, like Canberra, which has such weather extremes, has such an open stadium.

TBF its an empty threat. MW is never going to be in Canberra nor is a GF or Origin. Kangaroos play once in a blue moon so what exactly are they saying is currently being held back from Canberra hosting?
Probably only womens Origin or all stars game that realistically canberra could host and neither are exactly big events.

Does that mean GIO stadium isn't fit to host a final now if Canberra were in a position to host after the NRL have slammed the facilities.
