After this weekends election fail by Labor it would be suicidal for them to go with this surely?
I mean it says it all in the title really. 2.7 billion was an outrageous price for a stadium and the whole reason for the review was to get a better value for money, yet they somehow end up with an option that costs 700 million more?
Madness!

What the actual f**k?!

This won't happen. The public backlash against both the destruction of the Victoria Park Parklands and the construction of a white elephant stadium which is overkill for AFL and Cricket and leaves no legacy for the three rectangular codes including the city's undisputed number 1 sport will see this proposal get killed off.

It is political suicide.
The cynic in me says this more expensive option is a way of getting people to accept and go for the 'cheaper' gabba rebuild.
And the optimist in me thinks this is a way for them to show it is too expensive either way and to present the actual cheaper upgrades to suncorp and qsac as the saviour option.
