$3.4b for Vic Park will blow out, you have the unions, their preferred suppliers and all the other BS that goes with it. It’d be way north of 4b when finished.

reduce the Gabba to a NZ/English style boutique 25k stadium with picket fence and a hill after 2032, and those singlet wearing goons can have QSAC or f**k off out of Brisbane if they don’t like it
Send the prictorians back to Fitzroy

There's a Victorian on the Reddit/Australia page saying this embarrasses Australia.

Has the idiot forgotten about Dan Andrews cancelling the 2026 Commonwealth Games?

Fumbleball fans are having a good sook. It's hilarious.
It's the sense of entitlement that pisses me off with their attitude.
No doubt formed by swallowing the afl's propaganda that they are taking over qld.

It's really good schadenfreude to read but haha

Just for some perspective, look what the Yanks get for half the cost.

That’s pretty damn cool. You’d have to be a bit salty at Vegas by now if you were an Oakland/Bay Area resident though, they’ve now lost both their NFL and MLB teams to them.

Man it's overwhelming frothing online by the AFL cohort.

Like 90/10 split.

The thing is, they are carrying on like this is the last time in human history, that money for new stadia will be made available.

And suddenly the Gabba is a unusable shithole, only 2 years out from it hosting the GF.

For the first time in a long time the AFL Cartel have had a loss. Good stuff.
Once the new Suncorp design is out with any luck NSW might think about Turning Homebush into a 1st class Rectangular stadium, if not take the GF to Brisbane. V’Landys might flip flop on suburban grounds. Just think what could happen if the Tigers, Dogs, and South’s actually got to play out of a brand new or refurbished rectangular Accor. The AFL would lose their minds completely

If we can convince V'landys that Suncorp can be used by Newtown or the Bears, we are in with a shot of getting the GF to Brisbane

Shows the bubble they live in.

The amount of use that Suncorp gets, It should of always been the case

Capacity is what hurts them getting the GF, That might be closer if that comes closer to Accor

If the ARLC is going to not award a GF over a 10k seat difference.

Then they aren't serious about ever moving it from Sydney.

It isn't just that, QLD aren't going to bid as much if they can't get it back from Tourism.

Accor has 83k capacity but only 40k are able to be bought by the general public, Using that same formula for Suncorp and it is impossible for the state to get money back.

As opposed to Magic Round where there are 3
Days worth of tickets to sell for a much smaller outlay

If its "impossible" to get money "back" on a 70k seat stadium event, then Rugby League is f**ked.

State funding for events is always dubious anyway, State Govt don't bid on something with the sole aim of making financial gains, its more of a prestige and political thing.

If there is a proper rebuild of Homebush it should coincide with the completion of the planned west metro and light rail lines that should make it even more accessible for weekly games

Need to see the plans but there is likely to be members increase.

There are 4 teams worth of players, partners, sponsors, Officals etc.

Then NRL sponsors having their allocation of tickets.

AFL, Super Bowl are the same with very few general public tickets.

Your last part is correct but public are sooks about spending these days BUT NSW can pay more due to extra seats

Did you know that Origins at Suncorp generate as much revenue as those at Homebush even with the reduced capacity? Suncorp has a much better stadium member structure and the corporate packages are far more appealing and therefore sell at a premium. NRL Grand Finals with a smaller capacity would result in the same benefits for the NRL.

Old article, but it's been known for some time.

It is expected games in Sydney and Brisbane will generate about $10 million each.

Which is why Origins > GF for cities wanting RL content.

Suncorp has been too small for a while now, So it will interesting to see how many seats actually are for the general public

If there was more $ in it, NRL would move it. They are all about money and the deal the NSW govt does would be the best
