Pretty sure they are heritage listed as well aren't they. Can just call it NSO for a round and no need to travel to Sydney

With the piece meal upgrading it would be nice if the Gov just committed to a state of the art 25-30K stadium next to Optus. But that ship has sailed unfortunately
Surprisingly they dont get a mention in the ovals heritage listing. Surprising also that it hasnt been updated since 2011. Whilst the main stand is mentioned in the general listing of the ground it hasnt specifically got a listing by itself so shouldnt be an issue pulling down. I dont think anyone will complain about a butt ugly 50's brick stand getting knocked down!

Yeh that would have been the ideal, hold off perth oval redevelopment in 2011 then done it when they decided on Optus. Shame but wont happen now.
A new west stand and roof on South would make HBF a more than suitable stadium for our first decade or two.

The WA Premier is non-committal about stadium upgrades even in the event of getting a team, in his interview with the Daily Telegraph today.

‘Needs to be considered’ and ‘on the table’ is wish washy as f**k. Strap your cock on and commit 100% to building a decent 35-40k stadium for your football team.

And 25k ‘upgrades’ are not good enough.

Agreed, AAMI Park has set the standard for the rusted on AFL states. If you want a team, we want a stadium

Fishy fishy wishy
This Perth stadium is heritage listed
🤣
He site is heritage listed as a site of historic interest, some parts of it are of note. None of it is of any real significance other than the front gates which are over 100 years old.
They demolished half of it in 2011 to build two new stands.

In a best case scenario could new stands be wrapped around, or would it be more like Newcastle or new Penrith like?

When they built the south stand they built it so the corners could be filled in later and the roof wrapped right around from east stand to west stand. I believe it would add an extra 1200 seats to the south stand with the corners filled in.

They removed temporary scaffolding stands in 2011, which were erected in 2003.

Between 1995-2003 it was still an oval, with scaffolds put up for the east and south stands for the NSL season.

It looked like this

150 to 200 million will get hbf park to a pretty good standard

it won’t be aami but the storm played out of Olympic park for ages before moving

if rugby league takes off in Perth I’m sure they will build a new ground for them one day

West Australians love to claim that you’re only national if you’re in Perth.

That cuts both ways.

They need to act national with their sporting infrastructure and not half arse it.

The rubber is hitting the road now, the NRL has set a vision for expansion and they have the nose in front. Will they crack the whip out and build a long term stadium that can cater for the long term?

Actions not words.
