bit simplistic as always from you. Many cities use the opportunity to leverage funding to improve infrastructure and redevelop run down areas. London and Paris both have used the opportunity to do that.
Brisbane way cheaper
The point was about Brisbane costing so muchbit simplistic as always from you. Many cities use the opportunity to leverage funding to improve infrastructure and redevelop run down areas. London and Paris both have used the opportunity to do that.
You've convinced me. What they're planning to do with QSAC is just plain dumb. They're going to knock down two permanent stands and replace them with one so it looks like its 1982 configuration for the Commonwealth Games. If they spend $2b on QSAC that would easily be the stupidest decision in sport infrastructure history. With the $1b set to be split between Suncorp and Gabba for a tart up, that makes $3b.
Spend $1.5b on renovating Suncorp and increasing capacity to 65k, and spend the same rebuilding half of the Gabba so you can fit a track in.
Spend all the money on Suncorp
knock it too the ground and build something 70 to 100k
that would have the best post games legacy for Brisbane which is what the ioc wants
a 100k rectangular stadium in Brisbane would be huge for the city and its favourite sport
with Brisbane likely to end up with 3 nrl clubs one day it would get regular use
Origins and magicThere's not enough space around Lang Park to accommodate an extra 47,500 seats.
Even if there was, what's the point of adding so many seats when the NRL won't play grand finals at Lang Park and won't give the city a third NRL team?
Suncorp needs to be around 65k. Anything more and club games become as sht as Sydney ones at accor or allianz when they are less than half full. Broncos generally avg less than 40k and dolphins 25k ish. Neither club look like stretching the capacity anytime
there's no point compromising the 20 plus club games a year for a one off crowd for origin. Not to mention less tickets means higher value of ticket price. To get to a 70k-80k size you'd think the stadium would have to be knoocked down and rebuilt, good luck getting that funding.still a bit low for big games like origin
even if it means taking some grand finals there the arl should be lobbying that the Olympic money got towards a rebuild
You’ve heard of club mode haven’t youthere's no point compromising the 20 plus club games a year for a one off crowd for origin. Not to mention less tickets means higher value of ticket price. its sht, and should be avoided at all costs. You’ve heard of club mode haven’t you
many pro sports games in Australia are played at 20 percent stadium capacity. Doesn’t seem to be an issue
And yet when the dolphins play at Kayo to avoid playing in a mostly empty stadium you complain about that too !its sht, and should be avoided at all costs.
Suncorp needs to be around 65k. Anything more and club games become as sht as Sydney ones at accor or allianz when they are less than half full. Broncos generally avg less than 40k and dolphins 25k ish. Neither club look like stretching the capacity anytime soon.
Crime rates have gone up in SEQ since the morons running the country brought in migrants from Africa.Yeh no crime here at all lol
Origins and magic
heck with population growth the broncos could fill it
With modern structural engineering anything is possible if they wanted to retain that important location for Queensland rugby league
what happens if the broncos start regularly selling the current ground out
I suppose if the broncos do sell out more then the dolphins will get the spilloverBroncos have sold out Suncorp 5 times already this year. Only 3 of their games have been under 40k. Fair chance they sell out another one or two before the year is out. Throw in Origin, Magic x 3, Dolphins V Broncos and maybe a finals game or 2 then yeh I’d say Rugby League is stretching the capacity of Suncorp already.
Should be going for 60-70k capacity, agreed on that.
haha yeh 10k is awesome NRL level stadium. geez youre pulling out all the strawmen today! And yet when the dolphins play at Kayo to avoid playing in a mostly empty stadium you complain about that too !

African-Australians targeted after alleged murder of Vyleen White
South Sudanese Community Association of Queensland (SSCAQ) President Peter Garang Kooch said there has been a spike in aggression levelled at members of his community.www.dailymail.co.uk
The mother of the bastard who killed a grandmother in front of her 6yo granddaughter in broad daylight so he could steal her car for a "joyride" blamed the attack on Centrelink not giving him enough money to indulge himself. He was on bail for other serious offences when he murdered the woman.
There was another one up in North Lakes.

Nah, one stand makes perfect sense. It’s an athletics venue, not a footy ground, meaning all the best seats will be one side, where the 100m track and finish lines are. Given the permanent capacity will only be around 14K it makes perfect sense to concentrate all the permanent seating on that side, better spectator experience AND lower maintenance overheads moving forward. You've convinced me. What they're planning to do with QSAC is just plain dumb. They're going to knock down two permanent stands and replace them with one so it looks like its 1982 configuration for the Commonwealth Games.
